Dunedin has become famous for their annual Mardi Gras Celebration and this year we are bringing a 5K 10K and 15K on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. to host from HOB Brewing Company at 941 Huntley Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698, and each course will be run on the fully paved Pinellas Trail in 3 great distances.

Check in opens race day only at 7:45 a.m. at the HOB Brewing Company.

The 10K/15K begin at 8:25 am and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. as soon as the longer distances runners have crossed the finish line

Finishers medals for the 2026 are GORGEOUS and substantial...one per registrant in any distance. The 10K is a two loop course and the 15K is a three loop course. This is designed specifically for runners who are training for longer distances or who might be competing in more competitive races this year. Each distance is set to perfection, however, you can turn in at any loop if you’re not feeling up to par. To stay on schedule for our volunteers and law enforcement we ask encourage “runners” only select the 10K or 15K and walkers will be asked to abide by each of the 4 way stops along the course after 2.5 hours.

Top finisher framed awards get handed to the 1st 15 males and 1st 15 females in each distance as they cross the finish line. We also bring additional top finisher awards for youth and seniors so if you had a great day let us know we always have additional top finisher awards but we set this up in a way not to attract too many competitive runners as we share the fully paved Pinellas Trail (with permit and police) in the most desirable city in Florida.

The race is limited to 200 participants and is timed in scored using the electronic RaceSplitter timing system. Times are posted in finish order the afternoon of the race at www.727CanRace.com but they will not be available at the venue as we concentrate on FUN FUN FUN!

An email will be sent by 4 pm the day before the race which includes the most current parking and arrival information that you will need to have a successful morning. If you do not receive this email which includes your assigned bib number and your waiver of release to participate, simply send us an email and we will make sure the information gets to you but please wait until 4 p.m. to make sure it is not in your spam or trash file. It is always important to us that you arrive with all of the information you need for a successful day.

If you are a walker and intend to do the longer distances, please see Suzanne prior to your race, as there is a time we let volunteers and police leave the course, at which time we abide by all four way stop signs along the Pinellas Trail. Each course starts from HOB Brewing Company and heads north out and back. It is completely flat and fully paved run course, stroller and dog friendly

This is such a great venue and you're welcome to pack a cooler and enjoy the day with friends and family. IT'S DUNEDIN AND THAT EQUALS FUN FOR ALL.

The run caters to laid back runners and walkers who LOVE THEMED fundraiser events and want to safely run together in fun and celebration.

All ages and levels of ability are welcome to register for this event. It is also dog and child friendly. If you have your child racing in the kid's dash, you must register them in that category in order for them to receive their specific finishers medal however, the kids run does not include a promotional t shirt and it is priced appropriately.

Parking is free downtown and participants are encouraged to park in the Artisan parking garage. We will have a bag check open from check in time until noon on race day at HOB Brewing Company. A free beer is included with each registration for runners over the age of 21 as well as your finisher's medal and a promotional themed T-shirt.

There are no refunds and the price increases with every 50 registrants, so please consider purchasing the third party registration insurance online prior to cashing out.

We hope to see you in your brightest colors and great cheer on one of our favorite weekends in Dunedin HAPPY MARDI GRAS 2026

Age group awards slow down the day and we have used this method the last 9 years and it works out BEAUTIFULLY for the laid back group of runners we attract. We are the number once search for travelers looking for holiday running events!

After the post race party we encourage you to walk downtown to see exactly what all the rave is about Dunedin, Florida from our shops, restaurants, 13 breweries, and amazing marina district. Dunedin is also home to the famous Honeymoon island State Park so make a day of it if you can. Thanks for joining us and we look forward to seeing you race morning!

There is NO race day registration on site as we do our best each year to accommodate the waiting list that begins to build the first week of March. For questions please email Suzanne at [email protected] or text her at

SWIM WAVE AND RACE START TIME:

First wave will go into the water at 7:30 a.m. Waves will go into water in three (3) minute intervals. Exact wave times will be announced prior to the race. No matter which wave you are assigned, EVERY ATHLETE should be prepared to be at the beach by 7:15 a.m. for race director meeting and to go in your assigned wave.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED / WHAT IS PROVIDED?

SWIM-Not required, but definitely a strong suggestion would be swim goggles or a mask. No artificial propulsion device, including but not limited to fins, gloves, paddles, or floating devices of any kind are allowed. Depending on the weather, there are some broken shells at the venue during the swim so you are allowed to wear water shoe on the swim. We will provide you with a swim cap that will correspond to the swim wave you are assigned to. You MUST wear your assigned Swim Cap.

BIKE-You will need a bicycle and helmet. The race does not provide bikes for athletes but there are local bike shops that do rent bicycles by the day. Please Google search or look up Tampa Bay bike shops and I'm sure you will quickly be led to a bike if you need to rent one. USAT rules stipulate that you must wear a helmet and have it clipped in before you begin the bike portion of the race. You will be disqualified if you do not. We will provide you with numbers for your Helmet and Bike to use race day, they will be in your packet.

RUN-You will need a pair of running shoes. We will provide you with your bib number and pins, which must be worn on the front of your person during the final run portion of the event and at the finish line.

TRANSITION-We recommend that you bring a towel to lay your items out in transition. Some folks like to bring a container of fresh water to rinse off their feet after the swim. Wear sunscreen, it's typically sunny and very hot, But please DO NOT APPLY sunscreen until AFTER you have been Body Marked. We will assign you a race number that you will find on a rack in transition. You will need to have yourself body marked and wearing your timing chip to be allowed into transition. ONLY participating athletes will be allowed in transition.

TIMING - All athletes will have your Disposable Timing Chip included in your Race Envelope. Simply remove the small tab at the end of the strap to reveal the adhesive. You will wear the chip on your left ankle. Make sure to leave 2 fingers of space between the strap and your leg to avoid chaffing. DO NOT REMOVE THE FOAM PIECES ON THE STRAP. You will be timed in 5 areas of the race. As a backup, we encourage athletes to shout out their number as they run pass a timing point, so the manual backup timers can get your number.

    COURSE:

    TRIATHLON - ¼ MILE SWIM:

The swim takes place along the middle Honeymoon Island beach. The swim is a triangle course starting and finishing on the beach. The depth of the water ranges from very shallow near the shore to 8-12 feet, depending on the tide. If you need to move inside the buoys to rest you may NOT make forward motion. You may only make forward motion once you have regained a position on the course. Please note before you head to swim start to count how many rows in or out your bike rack is positioned so you are not confused when you enter T1.

DUATHLON - 1M RUN: Note: Run #1 of the Duathlon Course has been reduced to One (1) Mile. Run #2 will remain the 5K Distance

The first mile of the run course goes along the hard asphalt of the parking lots along the west coast of the island. The run takes you across the island and onto a hard packed trail into the shady and remote trails of Osprey Trailhead. The final half mile leads you out of Osprey and back onto the asphalt of the parking lot to the finish line. Please note before you head to run start to count how many rows in or out your bike rack is positioned so you are not confused when you enter T1.

    AQUABIKE - SWIM / BIKE:

The AquaBike Course ENDS as you cross the timing point into Transition #2 and complete the Bike Segment. Then proceed at your leisure, to the Finish Line for your Finisher Medal.

    TRANSITION ONE - T1

Both Triathletes and Duathletes will enter Transition following their first evolution. Athletes are timed in transition by the RFID Chip timing device worn on their ankle. The time from swim end and T1 begins when the athlete crosses over the timing mat. Athletes may run in transition as they progress to their designated bike rack.

    12 MILE BIKE

The bike course is a 6 mile loop over the Dunedin Causeway draw bridge and into and around Honeymoon Island. The lap is done twice for a total of 12 miles. Athletes will be counted as the complete the first lap to make sure everyone does the entire course. No radios or headsets are allowed on the bike course. Your bike helmet must be secured and fastened before you mount your bike at the mounting line. No athlete may ever ride their bike inside the transition area. HELMETS MUST BE WORN through the entire bike course. Without one you are a liability to the safety of the event. If you approach a no passing, dismount, or slow down area, do as you are told. These areas are set because we have very carefully gone over the course and take measures to keep you all safe.

PASSING ON THE BIKE When on the bike course, keep to the hard right. If you intend to pass, make sure you have room, and then move out, and call out in a loud voice, ON YOUR LEFT. Make your pass then move again to the hard right of the bike path. DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT.

    TRANSITION TWO

T2– Entering the transition for the second time you must dismount your bike at the designated dismount line. Keep your helmet on and fastened until you are back at your bike rack. You must dock your bike in the same area designated to be in at race start. Change into your running shoes and secure your race number.

    5K RUN:

The run course starts out of Transition through the Parking Lots and along the Northwest coast of the island. It's sunny, easy and GORGEOUS. The loop portion of the run takes you onto a hard packed trail near the shady and remote trails of the Osprey Trailhead and back onto the asphalt of the roads and parking lot to the finish line. DUE TO HURRICANE DAMAGE TO THE TRAIL and a recent storm, we have modified the RUN to include 2 Laps. Please review the Map
