MISSION STATEMENT

The Lake Howell High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is committed to supporting our students, faculty, and the broader school community. Together, we strive to create a culture of excellence and spirit, ensuring every student has the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Lake Howell High School 50th Anniversary-(RunWithHowie-5K) is a community event that will take place on Saturday, Feb 7th, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, at Oviedo Mall. The race will start at 8:00am. Howie is our school mascot. This professionally organized course will also feature a variety of activities, including sponsor booths, community engagement opportunities, and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the PTSA-funded programs and events.

This chip-timed race with age group awards offers you the chance to make a direct impact on the essential services we provide, from long-term residential care to community integration support and groundbreaking therapeutic programs. Through our comprehensive care model, Lakewood Center empowers adults living with serious mental illness to grow, thrive, and achieve greater independence.

8:00 AM - 5K Race Start

T-SHIRTS

Shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered participants prior to 2/3/26. Once a shirt is sold out you will see sold out. Shirts are not guaranteed on race day.

AWARDS

Awards will be provided to the top 3 Males and Top 3 Females and Top 3 in the following Age Groups: 6 & under, 7-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74-75-79, 80-84,85-89, 90+

DAY OF REGISTRATION & PACKET PICK UP

Packet pickup and registration will take place on race day at race site from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM.

PARKING

Parking is plentiful next to the race start location. The race starts and ends at the same location.

TIMING & SCORING

Race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib.

FAQ

How long is the course?

The 5K is 3.1 miles.

How will I be timed?

The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time.

How will I receive my results?

Official results are posted for the top runners in each category. Race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on the race website.

Can I use my own race chip or tag rather than utilizing the one that is provided?

No, you will be provided with a custom chip.

Who gets a T-shirt?

Only pre-registered runners that successfully complete the registration and payment processes prior to 1/23/26 are guaranteed a race t-shirt.

What if I need help along the way?

Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines.

Can I participate in the event with my dog?

Yes

Can I participate with a stroller?

Yes, nurturing future generations of runners is a priority and demonstrating healthy lifestyles to our kids is special. Please, however, start in the latter part of the runners.

Should I bring my own water?

Yes, but there will be a water station on the course as well as at the finish.

Can I get my money returned?

We appreciate your race registration. We are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks.

Will the race be held if it's raining?

The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.

What will be provided after the race?

An awards ceremony will take place after the race at the start/finish location.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?

We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.

A clucking good time to kickstart your fitness goals and ring in the New Year with a dash of fun and motivation! Dust off your running shoes, put on your chicken-themed best, and join us in a clucktastic experience at Oviedo Mall’s Chicken Run! All levels or walking and running are encouraged to participate. Proceeds support Victory Track club and various local youth sports programs.
