The Chris Klug Foundation is a proud partner of Realbuzz and enjoys offering runners the opportunity to take on marathons and half marathons around the world. CKF runners have the opportunity to take on marathons such as the Tokyo, Berlin, and Miami marathons, among others. The Chris Klug Foundation uses the funds raised to make a difference and eliminate the wait for a transplant. Founded in October 2003 by Olympic Bronze Medalist and liver transplant recipient Chris Klug, CKF aims to promote lifesaving organ, eye, and tissue donation and work to improve the quality of life for those touched by transplantation. CKF uses the stories of organ donors, transplant candidates, and transplant recipients to inspire, alongside events, school courses, and webinars to educate. All with the end goal of encouraging individuals to give the gift of life and register as organ donors.

The Chris Klug Foundation is proud to be a charity partner for the 2026 Cape Town Marathon as it bids to become an Abbott World Major Marathon.

This year, five individuals will have the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for our mission to eliminate the wait for a transplant. We work across the United States, educating and inspiring individuals to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors. Alongside this, we work to show the world what is made possible due to the gift of life through giving recipients, donors, and supporters a platform to make the impossible possible post-transplant.

The foundation was started in 2003 by an Olympic Bronze Medalist after a liver transplant saved his life. Chris received his transplant in 2000 thanks to the courageous decision made by the donor and their family. Two years later, Chris honored them by becoming the first and only solid organ transplant recipient to not only compete at the Olympics but also win a medal in snowboarding. His donor family presented his medal to him on the podium. Just one year later, Chris founded CKF with $3,000 from his own pocket and set its life mission to INSPIRE, EDUCATE & REGISTER!

If you are interested in joining the team and running for a lifesaving mission, apply today, or support our runners as they chase their dreams with a purpose.
