    The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of 13 rare connective tissue disorders caused by genetic changes affecting connective tissue. Features vary by type, but common traits include:

    Joint hypermobility

    Stretchy, fragile skin

    • Hypermobile EDS (hEDS): Most common, ~1 in 3,100–5,000 people

    • Classical EDS (cEDS): ~1 in 20,000–40,000 people

    • Vascular EDS (vEDS): ~1 in 100,000–200,000 people

    • Ultra-rare types: Affect <1 in 1 million; some reported in only a few families
