    Blackwater RC emerged in January 2025 when founders Chin Hsiang and Ryan Maeland asked a question that wouldn't let go: what else can running be? Taipei's newest running collective treats movement as meditative practice rather than performance theatre. Around 80 members, from designers, creatives to software engineers, gather across five weekly sessions designed around attention, emotional regulation, and presence during sustained effort. The Sunrise Program meets Saturday mornings at Rainbow Bridge before the city wakes, while Wednesday track intervals at Taipei Municipal Stadium blur the line between speed work and mental training. The Euphoric Run on Sundays weaves yoga into the mix. What binds the crew isn't pace or fitness level but curiosity about running's potential as a tool for human development.

    MAC Run Club started somewhere in 2023 with no manifesto, no strategy deck, just movement.

    Founded by Yuyu, an athlete born in Taiwan and raised in Montreal, MAC began from a simple need: to find a run crew in Taipei that felt real. When she couldn’t find one, she built it.

    What started as quiet runs with no expectations slowly became something larger than planned. In a city where running culture already existed but was still evolving in form, people began showing up, locals, students, expats, travelers, all moving through the same city at different speeds, for the same reason.

    The Monday Social Loop at 8pm became the anchor. Three distances, all paces welcome. No hierarchy. No pressure. Just running.

    Over time, MAC naturally expanded into a weekly rhythm built around different needs. Track sessions brought structure and speed. Long runs built endurance. Recovery and easy runs balanced the week. Each session serves a different purpose, but all exist within the same idea: consistent movement through the city, together.

    MAC became less about creating a moment and more about sustaining a rhythm, a system built through repetition, presence, and community in motion.

    Three paces. One loop. Many ways to run. Every week, the right people keep showing up.
