BDO Parihaka Trail Run Sunday 29 March 2026 EVENT CANCELLED Due to the region being declared in a state of emergency, this event unfortunately won't be going ahead. Please stay tunned for more communications via emails and on social media. --- Due to the closure of the swing bridge on the AH Reed Memorial Track, we have had to make some changes to the Parihaka Trail Run courses. The routes have been adjusted and re-routed where necessary. While we have done our best to keep the courses as similar as possible, this has resulted in some slight changes to the course distances. If these changes affect your ability to participate in the event, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss your options. Thank you for your understanding. Experience a blend of native bush, forestry, and mountain biking trails as you tackle the hilly terrain of Whangārei's most beloved off-road running routes. The BDO Parihaka Trail Run marks
the inaugural half marathon of the Sport Northland Half Marathon Series. Join us in highlighting Whangārei's iconic landmarks, starting at Otuihau, or Whangārei Falls. This stunning 26-meter waterfall tumbles over ancient basalt cliffs, creating a picturesque pool below and earning its reputation as one of New Zealand's most photogenic spots. From there, participants will weave through the undulating trails of Parihaka, an ancient volcano. The Parihaka Scenic Reserve is rich in history, once believed to host the largest fortified settlement in New Zealand, with visible remnants including pā sites, housing terraces, storage pits, and defensive structures along its ridgeline. Runners will return to where their adventure began, at Otuihau. Please note that children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
