Brand New Waves Running Club was founded in March 2019 by five friends in Kuala Lumpur who believed running could drive real, positive change. What started as a shared vision for a space where movement meets community has grown to around 200 runners from all walks of life. The crew stands for owning your narrative and moving toward something better, where running becomes about personal growth, connection, and showing up for one another. The vibe is open, warm, and genuinely welcoming, no matter where you are in your running journey. Tuesday and Thursday nights at Tapak TTDI, the crew gathers at 9 pm for 5K to 7K runs at a comfortable, social pace.
Godspeed Running Club started in May 2020 when Aaron, a mountain bike athlete and fitness coach, joined forces with Naqeb, a photographer with a cycling background, and Jaswan, a designer with a camera always in hand. They were looking to rediscover running as something simpler, more fundamental than the competitive athletics they'd known before. Captains Aqil and Nazkimo, a DJ who traded turntables for trail runs, soon joined the founding trio. What began as three friends has grown to around 80 runners who gather every Wednesday night at rotating meeting points across Kuala Lumpur, from the urban corridors of Mid Valley to the quiet trails of Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. Their philosophy is clear: progress over perfection, community over competition. Godspeed's heroes aren't the sub-2:30 marathoners. They're the accountant running her first unbroken 10K, the father of three carving out 30 minutes for himself, the student discovering that running clears his head better than any study break. This approach to personal growth and belonging draws runners who want to push their boundaries without the pressure of traditional competitive crews.
In 2013, five KYSER Rugby Club alumni kept showing up for conditioning runs when everyone else stopped coming. Teddy, Oggy, Ayisy, Zulfadhli, and Haziq decided to keep going, and Kyserun Krew was born. Today, roughly 150 runners gather every Tuesday night across Kuala Lumpur's rotating neighborhoods (Sri Hartamas, Bukit Damansara, TTDI), split into three pace groups: Felix for steady aerobic work, Panther for the middle ground, and Tiger Wolf for chasers. The crew also hosts dawn sessions at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, attracting runners who bond over sunrise miles on empty streets. What distinguishes Kyserun Krew isn't just their precision pace-group system or weekend long runs through KLCC Park and Bukit Kiara Forest Reserve. It's what happens after the cooldown: dinner conversations extending late, birthday celebrations, job updates, relationship milestones shared openly. Pack Leaders check in on struggling runners, remember personal goals from weeks back, and ensure no one runs alone. In a city where community can feel elusive despite dense population, Kyserun Krew proves that authentic connections form around consistent showing up and genuine care.
MEET UP At 6 started with a simple question: what if running was the thing that reclaimed your time? Founded in early 2023 by runners tired of letting work consume everything, the crew treats 6 AM and 6 PM as bookends to something real. The philosophy is "Mind over Miles", ambition without the grind, speed without the sacrifice. The crew gathers two to three evenings each week plus a weekend long run, building a tight community through semi-closed membership and monthly open sessions. The crew is based in TTDI and their routes cut through the friendly neighbourhood of TTDI and occasionally Kuala Lumpur's parks and city streets. MEET UP At 6 has become the crew for runners who believe running is a tool for mindful practice, and not only a performance metric game.
Racoon Runners started in 2021 when a group of Kuala Lumpur schoolmates ran the Asics Ekiden together and kept going. What began as a shared race day evolved into something that spreads like a good kind of poison, built on unity, acceptance, and fun. With around 15 runners at the core, this tight-knit crew operates without gates, pace requirements, or barriers, just people who love moving together through Kuala Lumpur. The vibe is warm and genuinely welcoming, where a stranger becomes a regular after one weekend run. Racoon Runners anchors their community with weekend long slow distance sessions across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, exploratory and unhurried, where the energy stays constant and the company matters most.
