Soul City Cycling gives back to the community....
During our past events, Soul City Cycling has donated portions of our proceeds to worthy causes, including Grace Place, a morning shelter for the homeless and marginalized in our community. This year and going forward, Soul City Cycling will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation. As we move forward with future events and club activities, we will support the Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation in their mission of “Breaking the Silence, Giving Voice to the Cause, Working to Find a Cure”.
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is the most common genetic disease in the United States. SCD affects approximately 100,000 Americans. SCD occurs in 1 out of every 365 Black or African American births. SCD occurs among about 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic American births. Worldwide, approximately 300,000 infants are born with sickle cell anemia annually. In today’s ever-changing world, young people need more than just knowledge—they need communication, problem-solving, resilience, and adaptability to thrive. Through education, mentorship, and hands-on learning, we equip them with the tools to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and become productive, engaged citizens. Our goal is to cultivate a generation of confident, capable leaders who will make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

Join us for the 2nd Annual "Faster Pastor Jeff's Run for St. Jude," a fun and family-friendly Fun Mile walk/run, 5K race, and 10K race that are open to all runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. This is going to be a fun event for everyone, and it is for a great cause that Bro. Jeff loves so much! All funds raised will be for the lifesaving mission of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Whether you are racing for a personal best or walking in memory or in honor of a loved one, every step you take helps ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for their child's treatment, travel, housing, or food—because all a family should worry about is the love and care their child receives while being treated at St. Jude.
This special event will take place in Bro. Jeff's hometown of Start, LA. The 5K and 10K starting line will be at the Start Baptist Church parking lot and continue onto Charleston Drive and then onto Webb Hill Road, with a turn back to the finish line in the church parking lot (an out and back course). The Fun Mile walk/run will be on Owl Loop, just across the church parking lot (also an out and back course). The Fun Mile walk/run will begin at approximately 7:30 AM, and the 5K and 10K races will begin at approximately 8:15 AM. All participants of the Fun Mile walk/run and 5K and 10K races will receive a finisher's medal. 5K and 10K finishers will receive medals for overall male champion and female champion, and then age divisions for both male and female, as follows: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and up.
Online registration will close on Thursday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Packet pickup will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Start Baptist Church in the fellowship hall behind the Worship Center (back parking lot). Packets can also be picked up on Saturday morning, September 13, from 6:30 to 7:30 AM. There will be LIMITED race-day registrations available, but goodie bags with shirts and finisher medals are not guaranteed to late registrants.
