Kawan Baru means new friend, and in 2018, Abang Joef founded this club in South Tangerang with exactly that intention: to gather runners preparing for the Jakarta Marathon. After a hiatus, the crew relocated to Lombok and reclaimed its name with renewed purpose. Today, roughly 200 runners converge on coastal routes and mountain trails across West Nusa Tenggara, bound by the motto RUN | LAUGH | IMPACT. Kawan Baru's philosophy centers on openness, honesty, and togetherness. No runner is turned away or measured by their pace. Every long run, every neighborhood loop, every dawn gathering weaves social responsibility into the simple act of moving together. Local environmental initiatives and community projects live alongside the training calendar. In Lombok's landscape, Kawan Baru has become a pipeline for friendship and resilience, proving that running clubs can be engines for both personal growth and meaningful change.
