The Messini Marathon offers 42K, 21K, and 10K road races on certified fast courses through the Messinian plain. Organised by the Municipality of Messini and Peloponnese Region, the event features age-group categories and elite corrals. A “Temple Run Division” awards special rankings to participants who complete all three distances across consecutive years. The flat, paved courses (elevation gain <50m) start at Ancient Messini’s archaeological site, passing 3 excavated Hellenistic gymnasiums and 5 km of olive groves. The 42K route diverges at km 30 along the Pamissos River delta. March temperatures average 12-20°C, with aid stations every 5K serving Kalamata olives and thyme honey.
