  You're about to run in a city that, just thirty years ago, was merely a slice of Egyptian desert 🏜️. But no worries, El Gouna is now a bustling oasis on the turquoise shores of the Red Sea 🐠. Just for the record, it all started in 1996 with just one 200-room hotel in the middle of nowhere 🧍. Crazy, right? 😳 Today, it's a resort town with around 24,000 residents, featuring universities, monuments, a port, and most importantly… a half-marathon 🤪.
