A Race Measured in Daylight
At dawn, runners begin their sunlit journey onto a gently winding 5 km loop through the Killarney Lake trails. The hours shift from cool morning to bright afternoon to
amber evening, and the only clock that matters is the sky above the trees. Run one loop or run all day—when sunset finally arrives, the runner with the most loops wins.
The Sundial Circuit is built to be welcoming and low-stress. A central aid station at Killarney Lake Lodge will be stocked all day with water, electrolytes, and simple snacks, and runners can take as much time as they like between laps. Friends and family are welcome to cheer, crew, or even join you for a loop. Track your own pace, settle into a rhythm, and stop whenever the day feels complete. When the sun touches the horizon the course closes, results are tallied, and we celebrate a long day shared on the trails.
Food & Drink
We will be providing food and hydration throughout the event. Tables stocked with snacks, and coolers filled with water and electrolyte drinks will be located at the main start/finish area near the Killarney Lake Rotary building.
This is a cupless race, so please bring your own reusable cup or bottle.
Directions & Parking
Follow Saint Mary's street or Brookside drive out to the roundabout, where you will turn into the Killarney Lake Rotary Centennial Lodge. There should be lots of parking, and the start line should be within view of the parking lot.

Mactaquac Trail Race 2026
Are you ready to cross the stream?!
Fall is awesome! Join us for the 9^th edition of the Mactaquac Trail Race in beautiful Mactaquac Provincial Park, October 3 & 4, 2026.
There is a variety of trails, both single and double track. We have a 5K, 10K and a 20K, so you just pick the distance you like. Although the course is not very hilly, it is hardly ever flat. You will cross a stream twice and a number of bridges. It can be slippery and roots might be sticking out here and there, so always keep one eye on the trail!
New for 2026!
New for this year's MTR is a 5K race on Saturday October 3, 2026! The 5K will take place after the kids run; there will be awards for numbers 1 -3 both male and female.
This event is especially good for beginning trail runners, but obviously anyone can participate!
The fee is much lower than the Sunday events: there will be no draw prizes or electronic timing (timing is manually) and the selection of food is limited, but every participant will receive the same swag as everyone else and there will be water and some snacks after the race.
Registration
There is NO registration on the day of the race! Online registration will go through Race Roster and will end on Thursday, October 2 by 8pm! There will NOT be a waiting list once the race is sold out, but as soon as the race is sold out a transfer period will open.
There will be NO refunds or deferrals, but a period for transfers will open up as soon as the race is sold out!
We try to keep this event low-key, so a low entry fee and no shirts or medals. Does that mean you will get nothing? Oh no! Far from it. You will get your swag and there will be lots of draw prizes (only on Sunday events)!
Cup-less
In an ongoing effort to be more environment friendly, we will again be (nearly) cup-less! That means that there will be NO cups at the water stations, so you will have to provide your own cup, bottle, bladder etc.
Massages
Massages will be provided by the massage therapy students of Eastern College from 9 to noon on Sunday!
Map of the course
There is no map of the course, but there will be some reconnaissance runs of the course in the weeks/months prior to the race, so if you cannot wait to find out what you will experience in October, we suggest you join them. They will be announced on the race's Facebook page.
After the Sunday races
After the race there will be food and drink, awards and draw prizes. In the past 8 years everyone got a draw prize. We will do our best to get as many draw prizes as possible, but we cannot guarantee that everyone will get one.
Kids run
On Saturday October 3 a free Kids run will be held at the small parking lot next to the Beaver Pond (see instructions for how to get there). Registration will be on-site, not on-line!
You will find all information in this Facebook event:
