RACE DAY - Sunday, May 3, 2026
Live Event
For the past 20 years we have strived to become a premiere running event in Manitoba that is inclusive to everyone who wants to participate. Beginning year one, our main objective has always been to provide an amazing race day experience for our participants, volunteers and spectators, while continuing to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. After 20 years, race day continues to be a very special day for everyone involved. It is a day when we get to see all our hard work and amazing running community come together while raising money for a cause that is important to us all. Without fail, every single year hundreds volunteers donate countless hours of their time. To date, we have raised over 2.8 million for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The WPS Half Marathon is sanctioned by the Manitoba Runners' Association.
Virtual Event
This is a great option to still be a part our event if you are unable to attend the live event on race day or simply prefer to run at another time or place. As a participant in the virtual event you have the ability to complete your distance when it is convenient for you. You can still be a part of our event without physically being there.
Participants of the virtual event will be able to upload their results between the dates of April 25, 2026 - June 1, 2026. After June 1st the site will be closed. Finishers medals will be mailed out the week following the live event (first week of May). Virtual event participants will receive a medal ONLY. Race shirts are NOT part of the registration fees and are NOT available for purchase for the virtual events.
Please be aware, refunds or transfers FOR ALL EVENTS will not be issued under any circumstances.
Fundraising
The Canadian Cancer Society needs us more than ever. Cancer has not gone away. The need for a cure has not gone away either. If you are able to donate and fundraise, we hope that you will. Our race team works directly with the Canadian Cancer Society to join up with research projects where ALL donation dollars are directed to. We also choose research projects where donation dollars are dollar matched which doubles every dollar raised. It is important to us, as an event, and to you, as participants and donors to know exactly where your donation dollars are going to. Even more important is when we can see first hand the impact we have made together. Please visit www.wpshalfmarathon.ca for more information.
All other information you may need, including dates and times for kit pick-up, race day information, as well as course route information can also be found on our website www.wpshalfmarathon.ca
See you at start line!

This event is being held in loving memory of Dr. Paul Wawryko, who passed away in December of 2023. Paul was a beloved friend, coworker, and family member to countless people and we plan to honour his memory with an annual 5K event. He was an avid runner, completing the Chicago Marathon 3 times, the Boston Marathon twice, and a half Ironman in Chattanooga. Paul was an incredibly talented and hard working runner, accomplishing the incredible feat of a sub-3 hour marathon on his first attempt, and completed all 5 of his marathons with sub-3 hour finish times. He aspired to complete the 6 global major marathons and intended to compete in the Boston Marathon annually. Seeing his loved ones commemorate him in this way would mean a lot to him.
The proceeds from the event will be used to fund an annual scholarship for the department of Pathology, where Paul worked and won a prestigious teaching award as the educator of the year. The remaining funds will be donated to various causes which were near and dear to Paul’s heart. A post-race event will be held featuring a beer created specifically for this event. We believe that an event combining fitness, camaraderie, and the outdoors is a perfect way to remember Paul, and we hope to see you all there.
