Weipa Running Festival

THANK YOU for your interest in registering for the 2026 Weipa Running Festival.

The Weipa Running Festival will be held July 26th 2026. This year our event includes 2.5km Fun Run, 5km, 10km, Half Marathon, Marathon distances and our Grand Slams!

There are 3 team events:

• Half Marathon Relay with 2 runners

• Marathon Relay with either 2 or 4 runners

• 'The Mission Team Event'. Teams consist of one nominated runner in each of the 5 events on race. (marathon/half marathon/10km/5km + 2.5km) The winning team will be the team that has the quickest total combined time. (nb: marathon & half marathon legs can consist of relay entries also)

Continuing on in 2026 is our interschool sports house competition; be sure to enter your child's school sports house details in their registration to ensure their run counts towards the overall winner!

Run on the day in-person or sign up to one of our virtual categories and run from anywhere in the world!

This year Rio Tinto Weipa has generously decided to cover the registration cost of the 5km in person event. We will have junior (17 and under) and adults (17+) place getters for this event.

Entries include personalised race bibs and finishers medals for all participants*.

Registration closes Friday 24th July at 12pm unless sold out.

No refunds available for withdrawal or race change after 30 June 2026. Transfer to virtual event available only.

Registrations cannot be deferred to the 2027 event and you cannot transfer your registration to another person.

All withdrawal's prior to this date attract a 20% administration fee.

*Children in prams do not get a personalised race bib. Non-Weipa virtual entries after 30th June will not get a bib.

2.5km Fun Run note: For insurance reasons, any persons accompanying children in the 2.5km Fun Run must be registered to run an in-person event on the day. E.g. A parent registered for the 10km in-person event can accompany a child in the Fun Run for free. A parent registered for a virtual race must be registered for the 2.5km Fun Run if they wish to accompany a child on the day.
