From big races to Saturday morning group runs—find relay events and connect with the local endurance sports community.
Team relay where teamwork and fun are paramount in covering 3000m total distance. First two swimmers exchange in start area, only last swimmer crosses finish line.
Nina moved from Slovakia to Austria with no connections and found her university had no run club. So she started one. Thirty students showed up to that first run in December 2024, and by the end, they were not strangers anymore. The ÖH AAU Run Club at Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt has grown to around fifty members since, operating under the university's student union with a home base at the ÖH Wohnzimmer, a gathering space where post-run meals and conversation happen. The crew meets three times weekly: Tuesday decompression runs, Thursday interval sessions (coached by Baptiste, an Erasmus runner with national team experience), and the signature Sunday Funday Run at 10:00, where beginners and Ironman finishers run together at a sociable pace. Membership is entirely free, and captains like Natascha lead walking groups for those not yet running, while Safet documents the crew on Instagram and Sebastian rounds out leadership. What Nina built is not a committee project but a solution to a simple need: a free, judgment-free space where students and staff can find their people through running.
