This chip timed 10k starts and finishes at the Putnam County Junior High School located at 13183 N 350th Ave, McNabb, IL 61335. It is an out and back 10k on nicely paved county roads surrounded by beautiful country scenery. It is possible to see deer, turkey, and eagles while running. The course is a mix of hills and flat areas. Water stations will be available on the course. Strollers and walkers welcome, but please no headphones. There will be volunteers at each mile marker and intersection for traffic control, but the course will be open to local traffic. Emergency crew coverage available. There is a two-hour time limit on the course. Post-race food and beverages provided. Race sweatshirt guaranteed to all participants who are pre-registered by October 11th, 2026. After that and through race day, a sweatshirt is not guaranteed.

Packet Pickup and race day registration starts at 8:00am in the school cafeteria

Entry Fee: $40 through September 27th, 2026, $45 September 28th through race day. Members of the following clubs: Starved Rock Runners, Lake Run Club, Prairie State Road Runners, and Springfield Road Runners who register online will receive a $4 discount. (No Club Discount on the EARLY BIRD Price)

    The race will take place on Princeton’s historic Main Street, starting at the Apollo Theater and ending at Rotary Park, just in time to enjoy live music, food, and drinks at Rotary Club of Princeton's 5th Annual Shrimpfest.

    The course is a straight line, fully paved city street. If you are looking to set a personal best time for a mile, this would be the place to do it. The course has been certified, and the race will be chip timed. The first race will feature “elite” runners who will be competing for a $1000 prize which will be awarded to the first male and female finisher. Both male and female second place finishers will receive $750 and third place $500. In order to participate in the elite race, male runners must be able to run a mile under 4:30 minutes, and female runners must be able to run a mile under 5:30 minutes. The second race is open to anyone wishing to run and have fun. Anytime Fitness of Princeton will also offer complimentary assisted stretching and body scans at the end of the race.

    All paid entrants will receive a race bib/chip, a “Princeton Mile” t-shirt designed and printed by a local Chamber member business, as well as a Princeton Mile logo'd drawstring bag. Awards will be announced on the stage at Shrimpfest immediately following the completion of the second race. For those traveling from Chicago or the suburbs, Princeton has an Amtrak station. The start time of the race will allow for those taking the train from the city and suburbs ample time to jog to the starting line before the races begin. The race finishes at Rotary Park which is adjacent to the Amtrak station.
