Runners, get ready for the trek through downtown Historic Wilmington, North Carolina with a Half Marathon, 10K or 5K! The Battleship Half Marathon started in 1998 and is one of the oldest Half Marathons in the South. We are excited for you to join us.

Moored in quiet dignity and majesty the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, across the river from downtown Wilmington, beckons visitors to walk her decks. Envision the daily life and fierce combat her crew faced in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. From all across our Nation they came, young men who had grown up in the crucible of the Great Depression and now determined to serve their Country in its time of need. These are the men whose stories you will encounter through their oral histories, photographs, and mementos as you experience the Ship and the exhibits. Step back in time and let history come alive through the crews’ stories. Imagine yourself steering the ship, starting her engines or even firing the guns.     Be part of one of the oldest and most iconic races in Wilmington, NC & join us for the annual Tri-Span 5K, 10K & Livestrong Mile.

    Both 5K and 10K courses wind through historic downtown Wilmington and along the picturesque Cape Fear Riverwalk which hugs the bank of the Cape Fear River. The 5K is an out and back course through downtown Wilmington. The 10K course is what makes Tri Span such a unique race. Runners will have the opportunity to run the three downtown bridges. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will take runners across the Cape Fear River. The Thomas Rhodes Bridge will give runners a birds eye view of the USS North Carolina and the downtown Wilmington riverfront. Last, the Isabell Holmes bridge will cross back over the Cape Fear River and bring runners back into downtown Wilmington and to the finish line.

    Back by popular demand - the LIVESTRONG MILE. Join us as we honor friends and family whose lives have been impacted by cancer. This is a non-timed 1-mile walk or run and we invite everyone to participate.
