Kid’s Dash is a fun, untimed dash for ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specially crafted medal for our youngest runners! (If your child wants to run the kid’s dash without swag, they’re welcome to run free on race day!)

Register by midnight on Thursday, two Thursdays before race day, to guarantee your shirt!

What is a Virtual Event?

While physical distancing, we can still come together to generate funds for Fostering Hope. Simply register to participate and join us, virtually, to complete the 5K or 1 Mile race on your own. Run or walk, outdoors or on a treadmill – you choose!

Registration for the Blazing Paddles Riverfest Dave Vasarhelyi Memorial Recreational Paddle and Blazing Paddles races is officially OPEN! Please register early. Our location at the Nautica Waterfront District, Music Box Supper Club is serving as the hospitality partner for our annual paddling celebration of Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River, providing free live Reggae music and Caribbean-inspired cuisine at their riverside location on Saturday (7/18/26). We will host the Riverfront Expo and early paddler check-in on Friday evening (7/17/26). The 8th Annual Blazing Paddles Paddlefest is Ohio's 2nd largest paddling event for kayaks, canoes, standups, and surf skis on the Cuyahoga River, a historic body of water that's risen like a Phoenix since the June 22, 1969 fire sparked the global environmental movement and clean water protections. Both the 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at Chesterton Athletic Field at 10:00am. Pre-registered participants will receive a short-sleeved race t-shirt; there will also be a limited quantity of t-shirts available for those who register day-of. All 5K runners (or walkers!) will receive a race bib with a chip to keep track of their times, and the top 5 finishers will receive prizes!

Race Details:

Race starts and ends at Chesterton Athletic Field, which is the field at the corner of N Park Blvd, Shelburne Rd, and Chesterton Rd in Shaker Heights, OH. Those who pre-registers will receive a short sleeve race t-shirt. A limited amount of race t-shirts will be available for those who register on the day of the race.

Teams:

Gather your friends and family and run together as a team! Running as a group has benefits including a discounted rate as well as a team costume contest where the best outfit will be taking home a prize!

Awards:

Awards will be given to the Top 5 Overall Runners.

The Cause:

This race is only the beginning of SCCE's journey. The proceeds from the event will be invested into Calvert Impact's Cut Carbon Note, an investment project focusing on sustainability in commercial buildings, a large source of carbon emissions worldwide.
