Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish.

Pricing: The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online Early Bird registration increases three weeks prior to the first race event.

Challenger: This Series offers a Challenger Division which is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. This allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with runners to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by runners.

Single Day Racing: Single day race registration opens one hour prior to the start of each race. The registration fee covers one single race to be run on the day of registration. ALL single day registrations should be completed onsite at the race location. Single day racers will have the option to upgrade to the full series (see tab on the left side of the page for instructions). There is a strict no-refund and no-transfer policy.

Awards: All participants receive a medal on Week 5! Trophies will be awarded to the overall top finishers in each of the divisions listed below (broken out by boys and girls respectively):

The eleventh annual Hornet Dash 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run, presented by the Highland Alumni Association in Partnership with the Highland Foundation for Educational Excellence, takes place on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at Highland High School.

The address for Highland High School is: 4150 Ridge Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.

This is a fun community running and walking event over varied terrain with balloon art, face painting and more. Registration includes your commemorative t-shirt! Coffee, Gatorade and breakfast food items will be available for purchase and proceeds benefit the Foundation. Kona Ice will also be at the event donating all proceeds to the Foundation!

On-site registration and packet pick-up takes place from 7:30am-8:30am inside the stadium.

The 1-Mile Fun Run takes place at 8:30am.

• The 1-Mile Fun Run is four laps around the track.

The chip-timed 5K begins at approximately 9:00am.

• The 5K begins and ends at the Highland High School Stadium and the course is a mixture of road and trail.

Join us for the 4th Annual Cardinal Crew 5K, our biggest and most exciting event yet! Taking place on Saturday, June 27, this high-energy day brings together fitness, family, and fun—all in support of the Cardinal Crew mission.

Participants can choose between the Cardinal Crew 5K or the 1-Mile Glow Run, making this event perfect for runners of all ages and abilities. New this year, we’re thrilled to introduce the first-ever Cardinal Crew Kids Dash, giving our youngest runners a chance to shine and be part of the excitement.

DOGS AND STROLLERS

Dogs and strollers are allowed at this race, but we ask that you start in the back of the pack as to not get in the way during the start. Dogs should be kept on a short leash and please make sure to be respectful and clean up any messes. Please be mindful of your surroundings at the start line and along the course, and please be respectful of your fellow runners!

REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS

Sorry, but all entries are non-refundable. Once we've received and processed your entry, you will not receive a refund, you may not give or sell your race number to another person, and entry fees are not transferable to the next year's race or any other race.
