The Moovin’ Thru the Midway 5K Presented by Wells Fargo made its debut at the Michigan State Fair in 2019 and has been a fan favorite ever since! This one-of-a-kind race welcomes participants of all ages and abilities to experience an immersive and energetic course through the heart of the fairgrounds. Runners dash past highlights like the Carnival Midway, the animals and even inside vendor exhibits—bringing the full fair experience to life.

The race finishes in true fair style at the Entertainment Pavilion Beer Tent, where participants celebrate with medals, light refreshments, free race photos, and a sponsor-branded keepsake photo. Adults 21+ can toast their accomplishment with a complimentary beer, while everyone is welcome to enjoy the live music and festive vibes at the post-race celebration in the Beer Garden.

In 2020, the race expanded to include a virtual option, allowing participants to run or walk from home or a location of their choice. Virtual runners receive a mailed Race Kit with their official swag and can submit a photo to receive a branded keepsake image to share on social media. Plus, all virtual participants can upload their race photos directly to the results page.

Proceeds from the Moovin’ Thru the Midway 5K benefit our nonprofit partner, Military Families United—supporting those who serve and their loved ones.

    Run trails by daylight, race again under the stars. On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Carpe Diem – Carpe Noctem returns to Proud Lake State Recreation Area in Commerce Township, Michigan. This unique trail race offers a chance to experience the same course in two very different ways: By sunlight in the morning and by headlamp at night.

    Choose from a Half Marathon or 10K in the morning, evening, or both. Morning races take place fully in daylight, while evening races start just before sunset and many finish after dark—making this one of Michigan’s most exciting night races. Runners who take on the Double will earn two gorgeous medals that magnetically connect into one epic keepsake.

    The trails at Proud Lake are wide, runnable, and beginner-friendly, with a few sections of roots. If it rains, expect classic Michigan Spring mud to keep things interesting. Courses are extremely well-marked with turn signs at every intersection and confidence markers every tenth of a mile, so you can focus on your run instead of your navigation.

    Beyond the races themselves, Carpe Diem – Carpe Noctem is built around community. Between the morning and evening events, athletes are invited to stick around for a full-day trail hangout, complete with hot food, a community potluck, lawn games, and plenty of time to relax with fellow runners.

    And they’re off! The Wixom Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host the 10th annual Derby Day races on Saturday, May 2nd at Sibley Square Park located in the heart of downtown Wixom. The 2026 Derby Day races will celebrate its 10 years and utilize 5K and 10K routes that takes participants along the Michigan Airline Trail, which is part of the Great Lake to Lake Trial. The 1 Mile Fun Run will lead participants through our beautiful downtown neighborhoods.

    We will have onsite registration the morning of the race starting at 8:00 am at Sibley Park. The transactions for payment will be cashless. Please make sure to have a credit or debit card with you.

    Participants will receive a complimentary Derby Day wristband, finishing medal, and t-shirts. Make sure to register by April 5th to guarantee a 10th anniversary Derby Day t-shirt . We encourage you to stay after the race and enjoy downtown Wixom. Businesses will be offering Derby Day Specials that include discounts on drinks, food, etc. All you need to do is show your wristband at participating businesses to receive the Derby Day Specials.

    Your participation will help support Camp Casey. $5.00 from each registration will help fund Horsey House Calls, Cowboy Campouts, and Outlaw Outings. Camp Casey brings the healing power of horses to children fighting cancer, rare blood disorders, and other life threatening illnesses.     For this event, there will be 10 minutes between race start times.

    Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, May 1st from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the City of Wixom Civic Center Campus, 49045 Pontiac Trail, Wixom, MI 48393. We will be located inside this year in the Council Chambers - Room B. If you cannot make it at this time, you can receive your packet the morning of the race starting at 8:00 am at Sibley Park at the registration table.

    Calling all 🐱cat lovers and runners! Join us for the I Love Cats 5K Run/Walk & Meowy Mile, a purr-fectly fun event celebrating our feline friends while getting active. Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or just love cats, this event is for you!

    The event takes place on Sunday, May 3rd at ITC Community Sports Park in Northville. The event will kick off with the Meowy Mile at 9:30 am, followed by the 5k run/walk (3.1 miles) at 10:00 am. There is plenty of parking at the park and a beautiful playground right near the start/finish. Restrooms on site.

    Pricing: $30 until April 19th with a t-shirt guaranteed. $35 from 4/20 to 5/2 (limited shirts available), $40 race day.

    Discounted pricing for families: We're encouraging families to participate together and are offering special pricing for you! Save $15 when registering 3 or more people from the same household.

    Course: The start and finish is at the pavilion near the park at the corner of 8 mile and Napier. The 5k run/walk👟 is an out and back on the paved ITC trail. All ages and abilities are welcome, you can run or walk at your own pace. The Meowy Mile 🐾 is a shorter fun run for all ages - great for families and kids! Runners, Walkers, Strollers and Wagons all allowed. No bicycles, skateboard or rollerblades please.

    🏅 Swag: All participants receive a cat-themed race shirt, a custom finisher medal, and post race refreshments.

    🐱 Support a Cause: A portion of the proceeds, and all donations, will benefit our local charity partner - Feral Kitty Trappers TNR, Inc. a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Run by volunteers and funded by donations. All funds are used for cats. 😻

    Packet Pickup: Will be held the morning of the event starting at 8:30 AM at the ITC Pavilion at the start/finish line.

    Awards: The Overall Male & Female winner of the 5k run/walk and Meowy Mile will receive a special cat themed gift.

    Results will be texted to you once you cross the finish line. They will also be live at the event and on this website afterwards. The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
