2026 Lake Natoma Trail Run 5K & 10K

EVENT BACKGROUND

Kick off summer with the Lake Natoma Trail Run on June 6, 2026! Cruise scenic foothill trails, soak in lake views, and celebrate the spirit of adventure in California’s historic gold country. Formerly known as the Mississippi Bar Trail Run, it's back and better than ever!

Hosted by the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District, this annual trail run travels through the wetlands, oaks and single track on the north shore of Lake Natoma. This beautiful area in Fair Oaks once mined by gold prospectors is a real gem for outdoor enthusiasts and is a great location for hikes, bird watching, horseback rides, mountain biking and, of course, trail running. This year we will be adding a Kids run option for those under 10 years old looking for a fun challenge! We look forward to seeing you at our fifth annual event on June 6, 2026.

Lace Up For Learning is a nonprofit that was started in 2024 by five 8th grade friends who believe in the value of community, the importance of education, and the power of running.

The mission behind this annual event is to raise money for under resourced classrooms across the greater Sacramento area. In the first two years, participants, donors, and sponsors raised more than $30,000 -- reaching thousands of students, K-12.

The 5k and 10k courses run on the beautiful, flat paved Parkway Trails in Folsom. The Kids Fun Run includes obstacle elements and takes place on a large grass field. Participants of all levels are welcome - from serious runners to community supporters pushing strollers or walking their dogs.

We look forward to meeting you on race day - and we appreciate your support for our mission.

The Fair Oaks Chicken Run is a beloved Fair Oaks tradition—and after 44 years, it still hasn’t gotten any easier. Known as one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the Sacramento area, this iconic event draws everyone from competitive racers to participants just out to enjoy a fun community celebration.

The 5-mile Chicken Run winds through the charming Old Fair Oaks neighborhood before heading out on a keyhole loop in Sailor Bar. The course is a true hybrid—half paved road, half dirt trail—and features the legendary four hills: Grand Daddy Hill, Hernia Hill, The Beast, and Last Gasp. The 2-mile Rooster Ramble Run/Walk stays on paved roads through Old Fair Oaks, making it perfect for runners, walkers, and families.

⚠️ Important: This race is extremely popular and sells out early every year, so don’t wait to register if you want to be part of this long-standing Fair Oaks tradition.
