5k Run Ultra Walk

Registration @ 7:30 | Race starts @ 8:30

This FREE 5K walk/run event will be a moving health fair of sorts - where every mile marker you’ll pick up simple, practical tips for staying healthy.

One of the biggest lessons? The power of eating real, whole plants.

We’ll have mini lessons on how eating an apple is healthy, but drinking apple juice is not. How every bite of a whole plant comes with fiber and phytochemicals that do wonders for your metabolic health. But when we strip those out in juice, our blood sugar spikes, crashes, and leaves us craving more and more sugary foods. That cycle leads to overeating, poor sleep, bad skin, and eventually bigger health problems.

And a lot of the foods kids think are healthy (granola bars, cereal, sports drinks, flavored yogurt, fruit gummies) are mostly ultra-processed foods without much of the nourishment of “real” whole plants. As a result of this deceptive marketing, many kids (and adults) are overfed and undernourished.

The truth is about 88% of Americans now show at least one sign of metabolic dysfunction (one of the root causes of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and more). While this is a 5K run/walk, you cannot outrun a bad diet. So start small. Eat more real food (especially vegetables and savory fruits) before every meal. Think of it as “dieting by addition,” not subtraction. Add a variety of plants to your diet. Add more colors. Add more real fiber from real plants. Eat more Earth-made foods! Try to eat 30 different plants every week, and load up your plate with vegetables before every meal.

Participants will learn the importance of sleep and protocols like how we need to have alarms to go to bed - not to wake up. How regularity is key. And how sleeping well positively impacts every aspect of wellness; just like eating well and moving well!

This 5K will be a chance to learn, share, and shift how we think about health. And the best part? It’s FREE, just like Nicholas Westfall’s monthly wellness newsletter: https://nicholaswestfall.substack.com/
