By participating in our event, you are supporting the inclusion, love and acceptance of people with Down syndrome (Trisomy 21). All funds raised at this event go directly to improving the lives of persons with Down syndrome by providing needed therapies, education, events, support systems for families and social outlets. Together we celebrate every life born with Down syndrome!

The Down Syndrome Association of Miami, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is dedicated to improving the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families. All registrations and donations are tax deductible.

Get ready to celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary at the 2026 Average Joe Run 5K, taking place on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Set against the stunning backdrop of Tropical Park in Miami, Florida. Whether you are a seasoned sprinter or a casual stroller, this event offers a scenic, sun-drenched route along the beachside path, perfect for soaking in the coastal vibes while you get your miles in.

​What truly sets the Average Joe Run apart is its unique approach to competition. While the event honors the swift with awards for the top 3 male and female overall finishers and winners across various age groups, the most coveted prize goes to the "Average Joe" and "Average Jane." In a fun twist, the person who finishes exactly in the middle of the pack is crowned the ultimate champion, proving that you don't have to be the fastest to take home the top honors.

​The fun doesn't stop at the finish line, as the race provides a post-run celebration filled with unlimited donuts and coffee. Every participant is treated like a VIP, receiving a personalized race bib, a high-quality dri-fit event shirt, and a spectacular finisher medal to commemorate their achievement. It’s a morning designed for community, laughter, and a little bit of sugar—making it the "World’s Easiest 5K" for anyone looking to have a great time.

Lost in Miami Ultra

Saturday January 9, 2027A fixed time remix with no set route and no loops! You choose your adventure through the streets of Miami! No DNFs, beautiful weather, and everyone is a finisher.Runners will have 18 hours to journey through Miami and navigate their way to required landmarks throughout the day. You will receive a list of locations with landmarks a few days before the race. You can plot your path or take a more plan as you go approach; whether it may be tackling the most efficient route or taking the scenic run around the city. Unlike our other Miami Ultra Race Series events, there will be no cards and no directions. It is up to you to plan your path and make it back before time is up. Rankings for the race will be based on the most miles accumulated. You must have some kind of GPS tracker to show proof of miles at the finish line. To be eligible for podium awards runners must reach all of the required landmarks AND make it back to the finish line on foot. Note: If you call it quits along the way and catch a ride to the finish you will not be eligible for a podium award, but you are still a finisher and will get credit for the miles completed on foot. In true Miami style, runners must take a selfie at each landmark and show these pictures at the finish to officially register their miles for the fixed 18-hour event. All of the miles within the allotted 18 hours will count. This is meant to be a fun, lighthearted challenge and adventure that you can take on by yourself or with other runners. Runners are encouraged to form partnerships or teams to get Lost in Miami together. All runners will receive a Lost in Miami t-shirt, some surprise swag, and a finisher medal! There will be an overall podium (1st,2nd, 3rd) for the most miles accumulated getting Lost in Miami during the 18-hour time limit.
