🌕 Sturgeon Moon Urban Night-O – Yellow Springs

Hosted by: Miami Valley Orienteering Club

    Event Director: Sarah Berna

Public streets and sidewalks within the Village of Yellow Springs and Antioch College.

Step into the night for a fast-paced urban orienteering adventure under the Sturgeon Moon! This event is designed for all experience levels—first-timers, seasoned navigators, runners, hikers, families, and friends.

    🧭 What Is Orienteering?

Orienteering is an outdoor navigation sport where you use a detailed map (and optionally a compass) to find checkpoints scattered across the terrain. It’s part strategy, part speed, and part exploration—think real-world treasure hunt, after dark.

🗺️ How the Sturgeon Moon Hydrant Hunt Works

Format: Score-O (find controls in any order)

    Time Limit: 1 hour

Goal: Find as many controls as possible

    Scoring:

    Each control = 5 points

1-point penalty per minute over the time limit

    What’s Provided:

    High-quality course maps

Reflective controls with manual punches. Loaner compasses

    🌆 The Course

Teams or individuals will navigate 20 controls spread throughout the Village of Yellow Springs and the historic Antioch College campus—urban streets, pathways, and campus scenery all come alive at night.

    🌧️ Rain or Shine

Dress for the weather, bring your sense of adventure, and be ready to run, walk, hike, navigate, and explore—whatever your style.

🌟 Come for the Challenge. Share the Experience.

Whether you’re chasing points or soaking in the night-time village vibe, this is a must-do Yellow Springs night-life experience.

    🌕 Let the hunt begin!
