The Spring Migration Triathlon & Gravel Half Marathon will be held in Emporia, Kansas on April 26, 2026.

Race begins 9:00 a.m. at Emporia State University, Welch Stadium

Gravel Half Marathon

  • 13.1 miles leaving from the ESU Track & Field Stadium and winding through the scenic Flint Hills.

Sprint Triathlon

400 meter swim

  • The 400 meter swim will take place indoors in the ESU lap pool.

20K bike

  • The 20K bike is a flat out-and-back course that heads north of Emporia on Highway 99.

5K Run

  • The 5K run takes runners through the rolling hills of Emporia, just west of the ESU campus.

This is a perfect triathlon for beginners or for triathletes to kick off their season!

A USAT membership is required to participate in this event. One-day memberships are available to purchase for $14.

Race Day info:

  • Packet pick-up, check-in, and body marking begins at 7:30 a.m. (inside pool area)

  • Enter through the east side of Welch Stadium

  • Additional parking is available on the west side of Welch Stadium

  • Bike racks will be assigned by age groups, 5 bikes per bar

  • Individual bike rack assignments will not be given

  • Warm up laps in the pool can be done from 8:00-8:45am.

  • Pre-race instructions will begin at 8:50 a.m.

  • The pool will be locked after the swim, so don't leave personal belongings in the pool area.

  • Access to the locker rooms will be available through the outside entrances (women from south side, men from east side).

    We hope you join us for an unforgettable nighttime adventure at the Lunar Ride, a unique gravel biking event through the breathtaking Flint Hills of Emporia, Kansas.

    Experience the magic of riding under the moonlight on either a 30-mile or 50-mile course, designed for fun!

    Event Details:

    Date: July 18th, 2026

    Distances: 30 miles or 50 miles - Pick the distance that allows you to be back to Mulready's by 11:30 pm!

    Location: Merchant Cycles, Packet pickup during store hours on Friday, July 17 or Saturday, July 18. The ride will start in the 700 block of Mechanic Parking Lot (behind Merchant Cycles)

    Start Time: 6:30 PM

    Price: $60

    Registration Includes:

    • Merchant Cycles hat

    • Stocked aid stations in Americus and Lake Kahola

Set against the rolling hills and shoreline views of Melvern Lake, each route offers its own challenge, from rugged gravel and punchy climbs to smooth, welcoming miles.

    This is an event where grit meets community. You’ll find seasoned athletes and first-timers lining up, side by side, pushing limits, encouraging each other, and earning every mile together. While the courses may test you, the atmosphere is what carries you through.
