August 1st, 2026 - Join us for the second annual Loon Ride at the Mercer Bike Fest.

ICORE (Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts) announces the inaugural Mercer Bike Fest and Loon Ride. The event supports our fund raising efforts to expand the current Mercer bike trail from Carow Park along Hwy J to WinMan Trails ultimately completing a 26 mile loop of Mercer and Manitowish Waters as part of the Heart of Vilas County trail system. In previous years this ride was known as Lupine Junefest. The volunteers who created and supported that ride did a wonderful job of building the foundation for the trail expansion project. We are proud to take up the cause. Please note: moving forward if you choose to ride and E-bike only class 1, those without throttles, are allowed for safety reasons.

Join us in our efforts by riding a 7, 24, or 50 mile route starting and ending at Carow Park on the shores of beautiful Grand Portage Lake. When you return to Carow Park stay with us for music, food and raffles. Cool off with a swim in the lake! Registration fee includes shirt, swag bag, beverage and lunch. Kids 10 and under ride FREE* when accompanied by a paid adult and do not need to register online. Kid friendly activities at the park after the ride.

For more about the Mercer bike trails and how you can play a part in completing the loop click here. This event also kicks off the week of Loon Days with the annual Loon Day Art and Craft fair on Saturday August 5th with over 250 vendors. Loon Day has been a Mercer tradition for over 45 years!

*Free riders are not eligible for T-shirt, lunch or swag bag.

This is the land where I was born and raised and I'm incredibly excited to share it with our far flung cycling friends both old and new. Soaring trees, rolling hills, and beautiful lakes await you.

Route: A mix two track, gravel, and pavement. 26, 50, and 80 mile options. A gravel bike or hardtail mtb will work great.

Ride fast or take it slow, all options are valid. Route will wind its way through National Forest Land, private logging acreage, quiet pavement, and high quality gravel. There are convenience stores on the longer routes and a stocked mid-ride rest stop on the long loop.

    Schedule:

Thursday - Early Camping Opens 3pm - Limited Availability

Friday: Arrive, Bandit Cross, Riders Meeting, Market, Swimming - Gates open at Noon

Saturday: 9:00am Ride, 7pm Family Dinner, Refreshments, Party

    Sunday: Depart by 3pm please

Family Dinner: Hosted by Chef Adam Blake, there will be complimentary New Belgium Beer and La Croix. Vegan and Carnivore Options. DJ's and bonfire after dinner.

Camping space on site will be limited to 180 people but there are tons of campsites, hotels and resorts in the area. Due to space and liability concerns only registered participants will be allowed to camp on site or be on the premises. If you wish to camp with non-registered folks please choose the without camping category and make your own arrangements.

Vending: Bring Bike parts, clothes, stuff you make etc, to sell at the market.

On Site Camping: You will be responsible for providing most of your meals and water, except for Saturday Night's Dinner. The best bet is to be as self sufficient as possible. We will provide porta potty's and hand washing stations.

There will be spaces for both vehicle and tent camping, as space is limited we highly encourage carpooling if possible. There is a beautiful lake an easy walk from the property, or very short ride for swimming, washing up, and pumping water.

Due to the fact that our beloved pup Baroo is no longer with us we are welcoming other dogs this year, but please make sure they are on their best behavior and that you pickup all their droppings. The neighbor has chickens and if your dog causes issue, y'all will have to leave.

This land is incredibly important to my family and we're very excited to share its magic with you. We humbly request that you treat the land with care and respect, please do not litter, or damage the trees. If you're planning on using a hammock, please make sure the trees you sling are at least 8" in diameter.

    Registrations are Non-Refundable
