The 2nd Annual Alabama Pride Hike is back — bigger, bolder, and even more intentional.

What started as the first Pride event ever hosted at an Alabama State Park is now becoming a movement — and 2026 is where it levels up.

This year, we’re proud to partner with REI, bringing their local hike guides to lead three thoughtfully designed routes:

-Beginner Route – Welcoming, social, and perfect for first-time hikers, families, and anyone wanting a relaxed, community-focused experience. 3 miles

-Intermediate Route – A steady climb with rewarding views and that “I did that” feeling at the finish. 5 miles

• Advanced Route – Technical, challenging, and built for those who want to earn their Pride with sweat and grit. 8 miles

• ADA-Friendly Option – Because belonging isn’t optional. We are committed to creating space where everyone can participate, move their body, and be part of this day. 1.5 miles

This isn’t just a hike.

It’s visibility in outdoor infrastructure.

Expect vibrant energy at the trailhead, music, local partners, photo moments, and the kind of welcoming atmosphere that makes you immediately feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Welcome to the 45^th Annual Peavine Falls Run. This iconic event is a 4th of July tradition in Central Alabama. Why go to Atlanta and run (walk) with 60,000 people when you can visit the beautiful Oak Mountain State Park, run with a few hundred of your closest friends, enjoy a great race on a fun course, and have a great time all the way around!

Participants receive a gender-neutral shirt designed especially for this race. You must register by June 20 to guarantee receiving a shirt.

Race start is at North Trailhead

Beginning with a short service road start, runners will quickly sort themselves before entering the single track of Blue Trail. After some rolling uphill, you will take a hard left up one of Oak Mountain's gnarliest climbs, and my favorite training hill, Outback Highway! Once summitted, good news, the most grueling stretch is behind you. But you still have 2.5 miles of rugged Alabama terrain. After the next, shorter, and gentler hill, you will crest over onto one of my favorite top-outs with boulders towards a slippery pine straw downhill. Next is a walk-worthy climb to your halfway point, your water station, and the crown of this race: King's Chair! After a quarter mile of mostly runnable trail, you will come to your second toughest, but final climb to Eagles Nest. From there, it's about a half mile of technical downhill till you get back to Red Road for a fast finish. But make sure you watch your ankles here!

So, come test your grit with the Southeast's toughest 5k. ~1,100 feet of climbing, and descending over only 3.1 miles, on Oak Mountain's rugged terrain.

Celebrating its 41st year in 2026, this race was the first Magic Sports (then Team Magic) event and honors local legend Buster Britton and his passion for pushing limits. Swim in a peaceful lake, bike rolling hills, and run a course inspired by Buster’s spirit.
