11.2 Miles 22 Miles 33 Miles Run Trail

Love Never Ends Trail Series presents "The Great Root Trail Race," and we are so excited to be coming back to Big Cedar Wilderness Trails!

Whether you run, ruck, or hike -- we have an adventure ready for you!

Big Cedar Wilderness Trails is on the grounds of Mountain Creek Church. It is located atop one of the most breathtaking escarpment areas in North Texas. Situated on over 100 acres, our trails wind through cedar and hardwood forest and descend quickly into a valley in a dramatic elevation change. From the trails you can view iconic landmarks of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Looking westward across the Trinity valley, the view is dominated by giant AT&T Stadium, The Ball Park in Arlington, Six Flags Family Park, and even the downtown Forth Worth skyline. Cedar Hill State Park, with its hills wrapping around a big lake, is the most prominent feature to the southwest.

Our course consists of an 11.2-ish mile loop that covers multiple trails that will include Texas Sunset, SXSW, Dragonfly, Copper Head Ridge, Ranger, and Barbwire. These trails are known for their challenging terrain, with varying elevation, technical trails, and natural obstacles like rocks, roots, and dirt. Click the following link to see the Big Cedar trail system and race loop segments. https://www.trailforks.com/region/big-cedar-wilderness-trails/?activitytype=5

Runners, Ruckers, and Hikers of all levels can expect a tough but rewarding experience, as the event takes place in a beautiful but rugged natural setting. The race is not just a physical challenge but also an opportunity for trail runners to immerse themselves in nature.

Rucking division: Required weight eligible for awards - Male- 30lbs. and Female- 20lbs. All else will receive a participant challenge coin

Runners will receive t-shirts and medals. Rucker's will receive t-shirts and challenge coins.

If you sign up the week of race I can not guarantee a t-shirt. Our shirt order is put in 2 weeks ahead of race day. Thank you for understanding!

Bring your own hydration bottles (cupless race), poles, and headlamps.

Parking is free but we are asking for cash donations to give back to the Mountain Creek Church and Big Cedar Trails.

Lace up your shoes, embrace the challenge, and have fun!

Let's make a difference with The Great Root Movement 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, as proceeds go to those experiencing grief, domestic violence, and PTSD. Together, we are pacing others across finish lines once thought impossible.

    Special Guest - Jayne Kennedy

    Jayne Kennedy | Biography

For millions of American women who came of age in the 1960s and 70s, Jayne

Kennedy was more than the “it girl,” she was a cherished role model as well, for

    African-American women in particular.

Her career in Hollywood started in 1971 as a dancer on Rowan and Martin's

Laugh-In and Bob Hope's Bases Around the World Christmas Tour, where she enter

tained troops during the Vietnam War. From there, she went on to host major TV spe

cials, guest star on prime-time TV, and serve as a national spokesperson for major

companies, including Coca-Cola. Her work extended to behind the camera as well—

she not only created, wrote, and hosted her own fitness series, Love Your Body (one

of the first of its kind, among the likes of Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons), but also

produced and starred in award-winning films, including Body & Soul, for which she

won the NAACP Image Award for Best Actress.

However, Jayne is best known for her ground-breaking tenure on the Emmy

Award winning CBS’ The NFL Today. As one of the first female sports anchors and the

very first African-American female in that role, she destroyed the myth that women

could not make it in the world of sports broadcasting. The combination of Brent Mus

burger, Jayne Kennedy, Irv Cross, and Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder is often referred to

as the best pregame show on television—ever!

Her accolades for being a trailblazer in sports, entertainment, and journalism

are numerous, including the National Sports Media Association’s Roone Arledge Award

for Innovation and Black Enterprise’s Women of Power Summit’s Legacy Award. Via

com/BET named her one of the Ten Black Female Firsts in TV Journalism Around the

World, and in 2018 she was inducted to the prestigious Smithsonian National Museum

of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington D.C., in the Televi

sion and the Media Landscape exhibit, presented in the Oprah Winfrey Wing of the in

    stitution.

More recently in August 2025, Jayne was awarded with the Sam Lacy Pioneer

Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Black Journalists.

Breaking new ground is nothing out of the ordinary for Jayne. There seemed to

always be a hurdle on the track as she raced through a meteoric career that brought

her praise and acclaim across many genres and platforms—which now also includes

‘author’, with her long-awaited memoir Plain Jayne released September 2, 2025 on

Andscape/Disney Books, with the official public launch being held at NMAAHC on September 6, 2025.

This year’s festival gives you the freedom to participate onsite or virtually—walk, run, or move your way from anywhere!

(Please note: Virtual participants will need to register on a separate page.)

    Our Theme: “Unstoppable Together”

This year, we’re celebrating the power of unity—survivors, caregivers, families, and friends—standing strong together in the fight against breast cancer. Our collective strength reminds us that no one faces this journey alone.

Walking and movement not only promote physical health but also reduce risk factors associated with certain cancers, helping us all live longer, healthier lives—together.
