The Kiski Area Shamrock Run 5K Race is a community event for the whole family to enjoy in celebration of ST. PATRICK'S DAY. The race will take place on March 14, 2026, and is a benefit race/walk to support the Kiski Area Junior Varsity and Varsity Track and Field Teams. This is the 8th year for the event, and we are continuing to make it our annual green tradition!

The on-site 5K race is for the serious or casual runners or walkers of all ages. The 5K race will be digitally timed by Miles for Smiles. The race begins at 10 am. The 5K certified course is an out and back loop on a beautiful country road with slight elevations. Race starts and ends in Kunkle Park. To get an event t-shirt you must register by March 1st!

The Virtual 5K race is for everyone, anywhere! This event will be self timed, and no race awards given for virtual event.

Event T-shirts are guaranteed for all participants registered by March 1st. Day of registration and Packet Pick up will begin at 8am Saturday morning at Kunkle Park. Early packet pick up will be Thursday March 12th at Kiski Area Upper Elementary (4350 PA-66, Apollo, PA 15613) from 5-7 PM in the Cafeteria.

    We’re proud to host this inaugural 5K for a Cause, where three counties are coming together to support survivors in our communities. This year’s event is bigger than ever, with proceeds benefiting three local agencies dedicated to making a difference.

    Burn Boot Camp Murrysville is proud to partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the Burn Murrysville “Be Their Muscle” 5k event. All proceeds go directly to the MDA.

    The MDA is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. For over 70 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of our families. MDA’s mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives. Funds raised during the Burn Murrysville MDA 5k event will be used for:

    • Research: accelerate the discovery of therapies and cures – MDA’s research they have supported is directly linked to approved, life-changing therapies across multiple neuromuscular diseases. There have been 15 FDA approved treatments for neuromuscular diseases in just the past 7 years.

    • Care: MDA funds the largest network of multidisciplinary clinics providing best in class care at more than 150 of the nation’s top medical institutions; produces educational events and conferences for medical professionals and families; provides one on one support through our resource center.

    • Advocacy: Access to care and therapies from day one (newborn screening); Accelerating therapeutic development; Empowerment and Independence (access to education, employment, travel).

    • Summer Camp: MDA provides transformative life-changing camp experiences to thousands of children and young adults ages 8-17. Kids learn vital life skills, make life-long friendships, gain independence and confidence – at no cost to families.

    The Elderton Plumcreek Recreation Park 38th Annual 5K Run/Walk is a hometown tradition set in a charming small-town setting. Often described as a fast, slightly rolling course! Runners and walkers of all ages enjoy scenic streets, friendly faces, and the simple joy of a community coming together. This is a certified USATF original course through the town of Elderton which is located between Indiana and Kittanning on Rt 422. Splits at 1 & 2 Miles. Water stations on course as well as post race refreshments.
