    DESCRIPTION

    Unstoppable Together!

Celebrating the 25th Annual Sister to Sister Fitness Festival

We’re thrilled to announce this milestone celebration of the 25th year of the Sister to Sister Fitness Festival. This event is hosted by the Celebrating Life Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making breast cancer powerless through education, encouragement, and empowerment.

    Special Guest - Jayne Kennedy

    Jayne Kennedy | Biography

For millions of American women who came of age in the 1960s and 70s, Jayne

Kennedy was more than the “it girl,” she was a cherished role model as well, for

    African-American women in particular.

Her career in Hollywood started in 1971 as a dancer on Rowan and Martin's

Laugh-In and Bob Hope's Bases Around the World Christmas Tour, where she enter

tained troops during the Vietnam War. From there, she went on to host major TV spe

cials, guest star on prime-time TV, and serve as a national spokesperson for major

companies, including Coca-Cola. Her work extended to behind the camera as well—

she not only created, wrote, and hosted her own fitness series, Love Your Body (one

of the first of its kind, among the likes of Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons), but also

produced and starred in award-winning films, including Body & Soul, for which she

won the NAACP Image Award for Best Actress.

However, Jayne is best known for her ground-breaking tenure on the Emmy

Award winning CBS’ The NFL Today. As one of the first female sports anchors and the

very first African-American female in that role, she destroyed the myth that women

could not make it in the world of sports broadcasting. The combination of Brent Mus

burger, Jayne Kennedy, Irv Cross, and Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder is often referred to

as the best pregame show on television—ever!

Her accolades for being a trailblazer in sports, entertainment, and journalism

are numerous, including the National Sports Media Association’s Roone Arledge Award

for Innovation and Black Enterprise’s Women of Power Summit’s Legacy Award. Via

com/BET named her one of the Ten Black Female Firsts in TV Journalism Around the

World, and in 2018 she was inducted to the prestigious Smithsonian National Museum

of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington D.C., in the Televi

sion and the Media Landscape exhibit, presented in the Oprah Winfrey Wing of the in

    stitution.

More recently in August 2025, Jayne was awarded with the Sam Lacy Pioneer

Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Black Journalists.

Breaking new ground is nothing out of the ordinary for Jayne. There seemed to

always be a hurdle on the track as she raced through a meteoric career that brought

her praise and acclaim across many genres and platforms—which now also includes

‘author’, with her long-awaited memoir Plain Jayne released September 2, 2025 on

Andscape/Disney Books, with the official public launch being held at NMAAHC on September 6, 2025.
