Get ready to lace up your running shoes and mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Running with the Panthers! This exciting race includes a 5K, a 10K, a Fun Run, and a Kids Dash. Don’t miss your chance to connect and compete—register today!

All participants in the 5K, 10K, and Fun Run will receive t-shirts. We will also award top performers in various age groups, as well as overall winners. Whether you’re racing or cheering for local runners, it’s an event you won’t want to miss. Join us for a day of excitement and help give back to the community! Proceeds will benefit the DeWitt Area Running Team and DeWitt High School Cross Country. Additionally, we are offering a free Kids Dash, and all participants will receive a finisher medal.

The 5k and 10k will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.

    HOSTED BY THE ALMA COLLEGE CHEER PROGRAM - Panther Spirit Race is the primary fundraiser for the Alma College Cheer Program. We think it's a healthier and more fun option than selling pizzas, candy, or coupon books. There is an event for everyone in the family! 5k run/walk, Kids’ Mile, Little Kids’ 100m Dash.

    Pricing: 5k run/walk: $20 until 8/2, $25 from 8/3 to 8/09, $30 8/10 to 8/14. Kids Mile and 100 yd dash: $5

    2026 marks the 33rd anniversary of the Capital City River Run.

    The Capital City River Run makes a real impact within the community, benefiting Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.

    Annual races include a Half Marathon, 5K Walk/Run, and the Sohn’s Kid’s Race. All half marathon and 5K race participants receive a crew neck sweatshirt (your choice of two colors) and finishers medal. The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and you can check your results during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.

    The kids races will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 11AM at Impression 5 Science Center. The one mile race will take place on the Lansing River Trail. All participants will be invited to spend the day at the Science Museum and enjoy a pizza party after the event. Participants of the event will get a Stainless Steel Water Bottle and a finishers medal.

    The half marathon, and 5K races will start on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center, utilizing Michigan Ave, Grand River Ave, MSU campus and the Lansing River Trail and will end on Grand Ave, utilizing Adado Park in downtown Lansing. Both races will start at 8AM on Sunday, September 21.

    Packet Pick Up

    Packet pick up will take place on Saturday, September 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing.

    Race day packet pick up will take place at Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

    Course: The entire run/walk is on the Capitol complex- concrete sidewalk/paved path (no city streets). The 5k is a 3-loop course.

    1, 2, and 3rd place per age category:

    Male: 5-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40 and over

    Female: 5-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40 and over

    Grand Master: top male and female over 50

    Senior Master: top male and female over 60

    1 Mile Awards: Top male and female for the age groups 5-10 and age 11-14

    Results: The event is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be live during the event and texted to you as you cross the finish line.
