BMF UTA MILER TRAINING - Perry's - Lockleys - Pinnacles - Fortress Ridge Return 01/03/2026 - 11 Weeks to Ultra Trail Australia

This is the toughest part of the UTA100 Miler - only 25km but a massive 2100m +/- of elevation.

Optional shorter distance 18km/1600m +/-.

Optional extra km for those that are fitter and faster.

This is also great training for the other UTA distances and the Hounslow Classic.

Training on course was a key factor in runners doing well in 2025.

This is week 5 of the STREEK.RUN 16 week UTA MILER Race Program.

For more info on the STREEK.RUN program check out:

https://app.streek.run/race-hub/uta-training-plans/

THE COURSE

We start at Perry's Lookdown Aid Station CP2 (This is 16.7km into the 100 mile course), descend into the Grose Valley and climb Lockleys Pylon before heading to the Pinnacles Aid Station (optional turn around) and Fortress Ridge Aid Station CP3 (This is 27.5km into the 100 miler course).

The steep terrain, stairs, single tracks and terrain will challenge everyone.

BLUE MOUNTAINS FITNESS is one of only a few companies with a National Parks and Wildlife ECO PASS licence to carry out run training on the UTA and Hounslow Classic courses. We have been training runners for 15 years to complete the arduous UTA course since 2011 and Hounslow since 2015. We have highly experienced trainers who know the trails better than most.

We are NPWS ECO PASS licensed and insured to carry out this training within the National Park.

WHY? This is a great training run to get a look at the tough bit of the UTA Miler course and see where you are at with your training. It's also a good look at the course for any Hounslow Classic runners.

The Run Trainers at BMF have a wealth of experience to pass on - race prep, race gear, training and race nutrition, race strategy, pacing and info on the course.

We do not leave runners and walkers behind. We have plenty of options with the different pace groups and distances. Our Run Trainers are highly experienced and will see who is doing it easy and also those who are finding it not so easy!

PACE GROUPS. We'll have 3 Pace Groups - The MIGHTY TURTLES and the HARES with a MEDIUM paced group in between.

GEAR. We will be using this as a race day prep run and ask you to bring the UTA Mandatory gear.

START TIME. It will be warm so we'll have a 7am start. We will have a water stash at the Pinnacles Car Park.

START/FINISH LOCATIONS. Perry's Lookdown Car Park.

DISTANCE. 25km with optional extra km or early turn arounds at various locations. The 25km training course has over 2100m of elevation gain/loss. Optional early turn around at Pinnacles Aid Station for a 18km/1600m gain/loss.

FINISH TIME. We expect to be finished in 5-6 hours depending on pace groups. We’ll turn around at 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the weather conditions.

NUTRITION. Please bring enough fuel and hydration for around 6 hours maximum time of time on feet walking/jogging/running. We will supply 2 x 600ml bottles at the Pinnacles aid station for the return trip.

MINIMUM AGE. We have a minimum age of 16 on this particular training run.

OTHER INFORMATION. Our Trainers are very experienced trainers with a huge knowledge of the area, the Hounslow courses and what is needed to get the best result for you on Race Day. The Trainers will discuss gear, race strategy, nutrition, pacing, aid stations, what to wear or pack for the race and how to pack it.

INFO SHEET. A full information sheet will be sent to all participants prior to the training day.

This will include meeting points, training course map, PDF Map link, instructions etc.

FEES. The fees for this event are:

$95

This is including all Race Roster booking and processing fees, transport if required, water drop and awesome, experienced running guides with multiple UTA and Hounslow Classic finishes.

CANCELLATION

You can transfer to another person with a $20 transfer fee. A 50% refund is available 28 days before the event date. There is no cancellation refund after this date. The Race Roster Enhanced Protection is available during registration to cover cancellations for an extra fee.
