5k Run Walk

Join us on Mother's Day 2026 for the MOM's Run, a Somerville tradition since 2003! This year the Pilotte family and the Somerville Road Runners are partnering again to bring the 5k run/walk to the community!

There is something for everyone for this great family event! 5km run, walk, and kids run! And don't forget about the best post race party around, with food and drink from a number of local restaurants and vendors!

Since 2003, the MOM's run has raised over $250,000, for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, widely recognized as one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind. Not only does the event enforce the need for supporting cancer research, it brings family and friends together to promote awareness for the health and wellness benefits of walking and running.

We'll see on on Mother's Day, for the return of the MOM's run!

    What's a 5K Buddy?

5K Buddy Registration will open on April 13

Every Girls on the Run participant at the 5K must run or walk alongside their chosen 5K Buddy. A 5K Buddy is someone 16+ who is responsible for encouraging, motivating, and keeping them safe on the 5K course and throughout the day. Each GOTR participant should be paired with one 5K Buddy. We ask that only one 5K buddy register per GOTR participant. Any additional people who want to participate should register as a Community Runner.

    What's a Community Runner?

For the first time, the Girls on the Run Greater Boston 5K is excited to have a limited number of 5K bibs for community runners! If you've always wanted to experience the joy of a Girls on the Run 5K, now is your chance!

Girls on the Run participants and coaches are already registered for this event and DO NOT need to register again. This event will take place rain or shine. Please plan to join the celebration, whatever the weather brings!

PIONEERS Run Crew is a transformative and influential running community that has been reshaping the Boston running scene since its founding in April 2017. Established by Sidney Baptista, the crew was created to directly address the lack of diversity in the city's running culture by building a welcoming and inclusive hub in the Dorchester neighborhood. With a "no runner left behind" policy, a community of over 500 members, and a powerful lineup of their own signature races like the 26.TRUE Marathon, PIONEERS is a true lifestyle and a force for positive change.
