EARTH DAY HALF MARATHON, 5K & Relay

    April 18, 2026

The Earth Day Half Marathon, Relay & 5K will be celebrating it's 12th Anniversary in 2026. This event has quickly become one of CNY’s most looked forward to springtime races! Along with some of the best swag out there, all participants get a tree to plant! Runners love the connection to the countryside setting. As you run along the low-traffic country roads, you’ll be rewarded with amazing views of rolling farmland, pastures with cows and horses and the lookout at Beaver Lake. The race start/finish and post-race fest are at the Emmi Farm’s Greenhouse with lots of parking, conveniently nearby- within walking distance.

The half marathon is mostly a loop course on low-traffic, country roads with many friendly neighbors that come out to cheer you on! The course is described as having rolling hills with a few good ones between Mile 8/9. The Half Marathon Relay is a 2 person relay with each member of the team running 6.55 miles (1/4 marathon). The 5K is an out & back along two fairly flat stretches of country road.

The Earth Day Half Marathon, Relay & 5K event benefits the Baldwinsville Meals on Wheels and the Baldwinsville Sports Booster Club.

    📅 April 18–19, 2026

    📍 Fellows Road Park

    ⏰ 1:00 pm Saturday – 1:00 pm Sunday

The ROCovery #OMAAT (One Mile At A Time) 24-Hour Run/Walk Challenge is a unique endurance event designed for all paces and goals. Inspired by the recovery principle of One Day At A Time (ODAAT), this challenge reminds us that progress is built one step, one mile, one day at a time.

    Here’s how it works:

    • The course is a one-mile loop at Fellows Road Park.

    • The terrain is a combination of pavement, gravel, and grass with very little elevation.

    • Run or walk as many — or as few — loops as you choose within the 24-hour window.

    • At 1:00 am, 12 hours after the race starts, the course direction will reverse. If you are on the course at that time, continue in your current direction. Switch to the new direction when you return to the Start/Finish line.

    • Come and go as you please — you set your own challenge.

    • A fully stocked aid station will be available at the start/finish line throughout the event, and you are welcome to set up your own station with whatever else you may need.

    • This is a CUP FREE event so please bring your own refillable bottles, reusable collapsable cups, or alternative hydration system.

Whether you’re aiming to push your distance, enjoy the camaraderie of the recovery community, or simply move with purpose, this event is about showing up and giving your best — one mile at a time.

💙 Every step matters. Every mile counts. Every person belongs.💙

    Results:

We will post your start and end times and number of loops on the board. Final results will be uploaded to RunSignup sometime after the race.

    FAQ's

Q: Can I bring alcohol to the event?

    • Beverages – Water, Tailwind, Coke, Ginger Ale, Coffee, Cocoa

    • Fruit – Clementines, Bananas, Apples

Q: Can I set up my own aid station?

    • Yes, there's plenty of room to set up a tent and your own aid station right along the course. The course circles a large parking lot and sports fields where you are free to set up.

    • Spots cannot be reserved ahead of time and are available on a first come first served basis, but that said, there is PLENTY of open space!

Q: Can I access my car?

    • Yes, your car will be right along the course within view.

    • Parking will only be allowed within designated parking areas.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

    • While this a public park, we ask that you not run with your dog.

Q: Is there electricity to charge my devices?

    • Yes, we have access to a large indoor shelter that has outlets. They may be in high demand though, so it is a good idea to bring your own portable chargers.

    Q: Is there professional timing?

    • No, you will mark your own loops. Volunteers will be there to help ensure you don't miss marking a loop.

    • We will post your start and end times and number of loops on the board.

    • Results will be loaded to RunSignup shortly after the run.

    Q: Can I start anytime?

    • The race officially begins at 1:00 PM on Saturday, 4/18, which is when the first wave of runners may start.

    • Participants may begin at any time after 1:00 PM. Your individual start time will be recorded on the board.

Q: Do loops count if I finish them after 1:00pm on Sunday?

    • No. Only loops fully completed by the official race end time of 1:00 PM on Sunday, 4/19, will be counted toward your total.

    Q: Are bathrooms available?

    • Yes, the Start/Finish line and Aid Station are at a large indoor shelter. The shelter has two bathrooms with several stalls in each bathroom.

Q: What time can I show up on Saturday?

    • Any time after 9am. Please be aware that we will be busy setting up for the race and may not be available to you.

    • The park is open to the public, so there may be other cars in the parking lot and some of the fields may be in use for sporting events that should end by 1pm.

    Q: Is the course lit?

    • The Parking Lot and the Start/Finish area will have some lighting, but the course itself is not lit. You will want to bring a headlamp or lighted vest if you plan to run through the night.

    • The course is very straightforward, but it will be marked with reflective flags to make it easier to view in the dark.

Q: What is the terrain of the course?

    • The course is a one-mile loop.

    • The terrain is a combination of pavement, gravel, and grass with very little elevation.

    • The gravel can be small and may kick up into your sneakers, if that sounds bothersome to you, you may wish to have running gaiters.

SUPPORTING HOSPICE CARE FOR THE LONG RUN!

Now in its twenty-fourth year, the Sunset House 5K Run and Fitness Walk has traditionally had something for everyone: a fast, challenging, 3.1 mile

course, plenty of food, refreshments and prizes—all within a fun and friendly family atmosphere. This year the event will be held LIVE on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Irondequoit United Church of Christ located at 644 Titus Avenue, Irondequoit, NY. For those of you who are unable to join us on race day, a VIRTUAL option is planned from Friday, May 1st, through Saturday, May 23, 2026.

All proceeds from the race go to Sunset House which provides alternative living arrangements for residents who are unable to receive hospice care services in their own homes. Focusing on quality of life rather than quantity of time, Sunset House supports the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of its residents, allowing them to maintain control during an important time of transition. As one of our community’s most popular and seasoned fundraising event of the year we need your help in meeting our fundraising goal of $35,000 to ensure that Sunset House Hospice continues to provide the dying and their loved ones with support, comfort, and care in a safe, peaceful and loving environment that allows death with dignity and grace. So whether you’re a runner, walker—or somewhere in between— please join us for the LIVE Race or participate VIRTUALLY -- and put your best foot forward for a great organization. This year the Sunset House 5K has been selected as part of the 2026 Greater Rochester

Running Club's "Rochester Runner of the Year Series".
