    8th Annual Canaan Valley Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K

    Join us for the 8th Annual Canaan Valley Half Marathon, 10k & 5k, April 25 - 26, 2026! Hosted at Canaan Valley Resort, in Tucker County, West Virginia, in the heart of the Potomac Highlands. This road race takes place in one of the East Coast’s most idyllic settings and is just a short drive to any outdoor activity you could want. The area is also home to two amazing and eclectic mountain towns full of arts and culture. So if you are looking for a new Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K to run and need a mountain vacation or just a getaway for the day or weekend, we are the race for you!

    Once again we will be offering all distances on both Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26! We have reserved the entire Canaan Valley Resort for the weekend to create an Epic Destination Running Experience. You are welcome to come for the day, but we'd love it if you spent the weekend with us. This year we will also be bringing back our Kids Race on Saturday at 12:30pm.

    Back this year: Later start times, the Return of the Kids Race, plus course improvements (see our website for more details)

    All details beyond race date, distances, and approximate times are based on 2025 and may be subject to change, although we do not expect substantial changes.

    Packet Pickup will be held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park (event venue) at minimum 6:30-8pm the night before each race and for a limited time race morning. See our website for most recent information.

    Start Times:

    • 8:30am (both days) Half and 10K

    • 9:00am (both days) 5K

    • 12:30pm (Saturday) - 1/2 mile Kids Race

    Conquer the Valley

    Looking for a little more challenge? Come out for the whole weekend and the Conquer the Valley Challenge! Run any two distances, either day.

    Prizes in a "Competitive" division for competing the 5K first, then the Half on Sunday. Run for "Fun" any two other combinations and save money! See our website for more details.

    All participants get a Sweet McClumsy hat and finisher medal.

    All finishers over 21 years of age get a complementary beer as well, in addition to post-race snacks.

    Course Time Limit

    The Course Time Limit is up to 4 hours - that's right, plenty of time for a 10K/5K! All Runners must be finished by 12:30 pm on Saturday & Sunday ; additionally Half Marathoners must be off the golf course (approximately Mile 12) within 3 1/2 hours.

    Course Description: An out and back course starting at the Freedom Shelter, running to a turnaround on the Harrison County Rail Trail, then back the way you came. Start and Finish are the same spot.

    ***This course will be well marked and have plenty of volunteers to help guide you along the way.

    Kid's Race Description: We will be offering a kids race near the start/finish line immediately following the 5K. This will be a short sprint for children 8 and under. Participants will receive One King patches upon finishing, as well as a t-shirt with their registration. Cost for this event is $15. ***Please contact us if your child will be participating in both the 5K and kids race if you would like a discount on registering them for both.

    Proceeds: The upcoming One King Sports seasons.

    Entry Fee Information: $30 through April 27th, 2025. T-shirt deadline is April 5th, 2026. Race Day Registration will be $35.

    Giveaways: All registered runners before April 5th will receive a t-shirt with their order.

    Competitions: There will be awards given to the Fastest Team and Largest Team, as well as others that will be announced on our socials closer to race day!

    Harrison County CASA is excited to announce the launch of our first CASA Superhero 5K hosted solely by our Harrison County team. While this event was a joint effort in the past, we are excited to announce that CASA of Marion County has launched a superhero 5K in the fall, expanding the impact in our communities and creating an opportunity to unite in sharing our mission and raising awareness for the needs of the children in both counties.

    Although some things have changed, several things remain the same, including the 5K route. Check out the event details below.

    📍 Calendar of Events

    📍 Event Details

    Activities begin at Steptoe & Johnson. The 5K course rolls through White Oaks and features mixed terrain:

    • Start at the top of White Oaks Blvd (near Steptoe & Johnson)

    • Head down White Oaks Blvd with loops through business lots before returning to the main road

    • Continue downhill toward Rt. 131

    • Venture onto Barnett’s Run Road, passing I-79 Trailer Sales, then climb the gravel road

    • Rejoin asphalt and circle the Percheron parking lot before returning to the main road

    • Steady climb back to White Oaks Blvd

    • Finish at Steptoe & Johnson

    The course has been laid out and will be as follows. Mill Race Park in Parsons will be The starting point you will run 3.9 miles to Hendricks Park. At that point, you will Kayak or Canoe 3 + miles back to Mill Race Park. Then you will bike to Hendricks Park and back to Mill Race Park to complete a 7-mile bike.

    2K Walk will be held within the walking track of Mill Race Park using the same start finish line as the Triathlon.
