    Big steps, little feet, sweet impact!

    Join local non-profit organization HONEY Bags Inc. at 9 AM on Saturday, April 18th for a 5k in Pleasant Valley with your family and friends. Participants can run or walk this 5k (road) course that begins at East Fairmont High School (EFHS). You will start on the EFHS campus then go downhill on Airport Road. You will then turn right at Crosswinds and run out then back to Airport Road past the municipal airport. You will turn left and loop around the Brickside Grille parking lot, then turn right and run Airport Road back to EFHS campus to finish. There will be rewards for the top 3 male and female finishers. We will post race results in appropriate age categories.

    Kids under 12 are more than welcome to register for the 5k, or they can run in the 800m Kids Fun Run at 8:30 am. This race is ~2.5 laps around the lower parking lot at EFHS.

    All proceeds of this event will go directly to HONEY Bags Inc. HONEY Bags is a non-profit organization that provides weekend food bags to school age children in our community. HONEY Bags is currently packing weekly bags for East Dale Elementary, East Fairmont Middle School, East Fairmont High Pre-School, and East Park Elementary. Many children rely on school meals during the week, and HONEY Bags' mission is to reach these kids and provide food for them to take home over the weekend. They are currently packing bags for ~260 kids for the 2025-2026 school year.

    HONEY Bags is proud to partner with the Marion County Running and Walking Club (MCRWC) and be the first race in their 2026 series!!

    Get ready to hit the trail for a fun and family-friendly event! The Trail Day 5K Run & Walk takes place on Saturday, May 2nd, in celebration of National Celebrate Trails Day at the stunning Prickett’s Fort State Park along the MCPARC rail trail. Starting at 9 AM, the scenic course will take runners and walkers towards the Meredith Tunnel, offering a beautiful and enjoyable experience for all.

    This exciting event is hosted by the Fairmont State University Cycling Club to support their activities and is conducted in partnership with Marion County Parks and Recreation. Plus, it’s a part of the 2026 Marion County Race Series—so don’t miss your chance to be part of something special!

    Whether you're a seasoned runner looking for a fast course, a casual walker, or just looking for a great way to enjoy the outdoors, this event is for all ages and abilities.     Harrison County CASA is excited to announce the launch of our first CASA Superhero 5K hosted solely by our Harrison County team. While this event was a joint effort in the past, we are excited to announce that CASA of Marion County has launched a superhero 5K in the fall, expanding the impact in our communities and creating an opportunity to unite in sharing our mission and raising awareness for the needs of the children in both counties.

    Although some things have changed, several things remain the same, including the 5K route. Check out the event details below.

    📍 Calendar of Events

    Race Day: May 9, 2026

    • 7:00am - Registration Opens

    • 8:30am - 5K run/walk begins

    • 9:30am - Adult Awards followed by Costume Contest

    • 10:00am - Kids' Fun Run

    📍 Event Details

    Activities begin at Steptoe & Johnson. The 5K course rolls through White Oaks and features mixed terrain:

    • Start at the top of White Oaks Blvd (near Steptoe & Johnson)

    • Head down White Oaks Blvd with loops through business lots before returning to the main road

    • Continue downhill toward Rt. 131

    • Venture onto Barnett’s Run Road, passing I-79 Trailer Sales, then climb the gravel road

    • Rejoin asphalt and circle the Percheron parking lot before returning to the main road

    • Steady climb back to White Oaks Blvd

    • Finish at Steptoe & Johnson

    The Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars 5K is held annually to honor those law enforcement officers across this country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while following their call to serve and protect our communities. We hope you can join us to help reach our goal of over 1500 participants this year. Revenue generated from the race is entrusted to the Hotsinpiller Foundation to provide scholarships for those who wish to pursue or enhance their law enforcement career, support local law enforcement agencies and their mission, and assist injured officers and their families.
