Do you like to swim, bike, and run? Do you like to help raise money for a worthy cause?

Then join us for the 20th annual Emily Schindler Memorial Scholarship Triathlon.

Never done a triathlon before? The “sprint” length distances are perfect for first time triathletes. This year’s triathlon will be held on Saturday, April 11th. Each course takes place at the Severna Park Community Center pool and the B&A Trail. The triathlon can be completed individually or by teams of 2 or 3 people.

Sprint triathlon: (800 yard swim, 9.25 mile bike, 2.8 mile run)

Relay Sprint triathlon: (800 yard swim, 9.25 mile bike, 2.8 mile run)

    Event details and schedule

Triathlon Information: The recreational triathlon was established to benefit the Emily Schindler Memorial Scholarship which awards several college bound swimmers scholarships each year. To date, nearly $79,300 has been awarded to 135 swimmers. Emily began swimming competitively when she was 9 years old yet, she placed her friendships first and focused on having a “best time” rather than getting a “best time”. Her spirit prevails at the triathlon each year as many friends and neighbors come together to honor her memory and for many participate in their first triathlon and have their best time!

    Triathlon Timeline:

Monday, March 23rd - Early Registration Ends

Thursday, April 9 - Registration Closes

Saturday, April 11 – Race Day

    • 6:00am - Race Check-in

    • 7:00am - Race Begins

    Check website/e-mail for cancellation information

    Sprint Triathlon Course:

    • Swim - 800 yard (Severna Park Community Center Indoor Pool)

    • Bike - 9 miles (B&A Bike Trail)

    • Run - 3 miles (B&A Bike Trail)

Bike and run legs will be held on the B&A bike trail beginning at Cypress Creek Rd

Distances are approximate. Detailed map located at: www.emilystriathlon.com

Relay for Sprint Triathlon: Consist of 2 or 3 people. Each leg needs to be completed by the person who started the leg. There can be one person for one leg and another for two or a total of three people each doing one leg. Each person needs to complete a separate registration form to participate.

Timing:In keeping with Emily’s enthusiasm for “the time she had” rather than her “swim times,” we encourage everyone to enjoy their experience of a recreational triathlon. The swim, run and transition times (the time between each leg of the event) will be posted. Times will not be posted for the bike ride because no one is permitted to exceed the speed limit of 15 mph, and participants will not receive an advantage or disadvantage by the bike ride. There will be designated pathways roped off to direct you to the next leg of the triathlon. Please stay in the path for your safety and obey all B&A Trail regulation including the 15 mph speed limit; failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Awards: There will not be an Awards Ceremony. Results will be posted on the website and emailed to participants by 2:00pm on Saturday. Awards for 1st will be awarded by gender/age group for individual and team participation. The awards will be available for pick up at the Severna Park Community Center or the awards can be mailed to the participants.

The Rock Hall Triathlons are nestled on the edge of the Eastern Shore of Maryland in picturesque Kent County and only 18 miles from Baltimore “as the fish swims” (put your bike rack on a boat!). Rock Hall is one of the friendliest, most laid back towns anywhere…and is full of history. George Washington took the Annapolis Ferry to Rock Hall nearly ten times before heading to Philly on horseback to work out America’s Independence! The swim takes place in Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay, protecting athletes from any serious wind or chop. The bike course is a triathlete’s dream with beautiful ribbons of pavement and wide shoulders throughout most of the rural course. The run course is pancake flat and takes athletes through the quaint nautically themed neighborhoods and side roads of Rock Hall, MD.

This race is worth the trip to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Watch last years race video, then register and plan your trip to Rock Hall, MD!
