Who We Are: Healthy Kids Running Series is a five (5) week running program in the spring and fall for kids Pre-K through 8th grade. Each HKRS Series takes place once a week and offers age-appropriate running events including the 50 & 75 yard dashes, the 1/4 mile, the 1/2 mile and the 1 mile run. Kids will earn points for each race they complete based on their finish.

Pricing: The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online Early Bird registration increases three weeks prior to the first race event.

Challenger: This Series offers a Challenger Division which is an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities and/or special needs. This allows for parents, siblings, and friends to be on the course with runners to provide support as well as bringing their own supportive devices such as crutches, braces, wheelchairs, etc. to be used by runners.

Single Day Racing: Single day race registration opens one hour prior to the start of each race. The registration fee covers one single race to be run on the day of registration. ALL single day registrations should be completed onsite at the race location. Single day racers will have the option to upgrade to the full series (see tab on the left side of the page for instructions). There is a strict no-refund and no-transfer policy.

Awards: All participants receive a medal on Week 5! Trophies will be awarded to the overall top finishers in each of the divisions listed below (broken out by boys and girls respectively):

"Your Story Matters" Falcon 5K Run/Walk for Mental Health Awareness

Jefferson Township Intermediate School recognizes the importance of bringing mental health awareness programs and information to our schools and community. Non-profit mental health organizations will be at the event to share information about the services and programs, as well as mental health resources. Spectators are encouraged and welcome to the event!

The event will take place at the Jefferson Township High School athletic complex. The Youth Color Run will be on the back fields beginning at 9:00 am. JTMS Student Council and Gateways, and JT-Teen Scene will be there to have fun with the children along with a visit from our very own FALCON! and fun craft activity. Children participating in the Color Run are encouraged to wear white t-shirts so they can see the brightness of their colors!

The 5K Trail Run will kick off at 10:00 am. You may choose to walk, run, or jog. Set your own personal goals and choose what suits your own personal story. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Male and Female finishers in each 10-year age group category and for overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Male and Female finishers for the 5K Trail Run.

In addition, the money raised from the event will be used to support the Jefferson Township Education Foundation and the Middle School Positive Behavior Support In Schools (PBSIS) Program in order to promote Social-Emotional Learning opportunities and mental health awareness programs.

Hosted by the Morris County Striders running club and the Roxbury Recreation department.

Race starts at 7:00pm on Monday, June 9th in front of the Horseshoe Lake Recreation Complex on Eyland Avenue. Packet pickup and race day registration starts at 4:30pm in the grounds of the Horseshoe Lake Recreation complex by Imagination Station.

Corporate, Club, and Family Team Competition:

Men, Women, and Co-ed divisions. Unlimited team members (all must register); top three will score. Teams must pre-register but add-ons are allowed on race day. Family entry fee covers parents and dependent children only. No B teams.

The Course: USATF-NJ certified loop course (#NJ23011JLW). Flat, very fast and worth 500 points in the USATF-NJ P Grand Prix.

Post Race Party: pizza, ice cream, water, Gatorade. Live DJ music. Random prize raffles from local merchants (must be present to win).

Who Benefits: All net proceeds from the race will benefit local charities and non-profit organizations: Roxbury HS Project Graduation, Roxbury Rescue Squad & Fire Department, Roxbury Social Services, Roxbury Interact Club, Roxbury Recreation Trust fund and Roxbury HS Trac/XC scholarships.
