Peninsula Runners is excited to offer a spring 2026 Learn-to-Run (001) & Run Easy (101) and a Run Stronger (201 group) starting January 21st to April 15. This will be a great way to get ready to run a Spring 5 or 10 K run (SUN RUN 2026 is April 19) or to just improve your health and fitness while having fun in a safe group setting! At the end of the session on April 15th we will all do a 5 K timed run where you predict your finish time and we see who gets the closest.

We strongly believe that outdoor exercise in a group setting is important for both our physical and mental health!!

The groups will meet in front of our Langley store at 6:00 pm every Wednesday night for 13 weeks from January 21st to April 15th. Cost is $60 plus GST which includes a Pen Runners run shirt. Anyone with an interest in improving their fitness and learning more about the walking, jogging and running in a fun and social atmosphere is qualified to join. The goal for spring 2026 is to get outside and learn to run or get back into it again. Running is a very healthy activity for us and our goal is to help you become healthier and happier.

This spring we are offering three programs: Learn-to-Run (001), Run Easy (101) & Run Stronger (201) groups which will offer a safe and gradual introduction to improved your fitness in a safe and healthy environment. Each session features the ‘Walk-Jog-Run’ progression (or for the 201 a different workout each week) until you’re finally walking fast or running strong for 40 minutes+, 3-4 times per week... at a pace that will allow you to walk or run a 8 to 10k or more with comfort & confidence!! Group 001 is best or those who have never run before or not for a LONG time. Group 101 will transition quicker to jogging and running. While the 201 is for those already running 30 minutes at a time but wanting to become stronger and faster.

Sign up soon before it is all full!!

Peninsula Runners Langley Spring 2026 Half and Full Marathon run group AKA the 301 group meets twice a week on Saturday mornings and also Wednesday nights. The first Saturday being January 10th and the first Wednesday is January 7th, 2026. This session is geared towards the BMO Half and Full Marathon on May 3, 2025. We will help get you to the starting line ready and eager to finish strongly. Peninsula Runners has been successfully running run groups since we first opened in 2001. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Long runs are Saturday at 7 AM (7.30 AM for the first six weeks) while the Wednesday workouts start at either 5.15 or 6.00. Wednesdays are key workouts to help you become a stronger more complete runner. You should be able to run at least 40 minutes for the half or 60 minutes for the marathon before the first long run.

FYI we also have a power walking group heading out on Saturdays for those who prefer to walk either a 10 K (Sun Run) or a half marathon.

Cost of the program is $100 for the spring (or ask at the store about our yearly option). This includes both weekly runs and also a 15% discount on purchases at the store. You will receive two weekly emails from the store and a program outline to help guide you through the program. All runners will receive a Pen Runners shirt to run in.

Running can be challenging and fun at the same time. One of the keys to running with a group like this is that you have others to run with and help you stay motivated and get a little more out of yourself. Our goal is to help prepare you to enjoy running and to finish your goal race.

On May 31, 2026, Mikey’s Run returns to Burnaby Lake for its second annual event, building on the incredible success of its inaugural year.

With the support of participants, volunteers, and donors, the first Mikey’s Run brought people together on the trails around Burnaby Lake and raised over $100,000 in support of mental health awareness and resources.

Mikey’s Run exists to create space for connection, conversation, and support around mental health — an issue that affects individuals, families, and communities everywhere. The event honours the memory of Mike, an avid runner who trained regularly on these trails and who quietly struggled with mental health challenges.

In 2026, participants will once again come together to Break the Silence, One Step at a Time. The event will again include a 10 km run, a 5 km run/walk, and a kids’ run, welcoming people of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re running, walking, or simply showing up, Mikey’s Run is an opportunity to move together, remember together, and continue making a meaningful difference.
