We Invite you to join us for the 2nd Annual "The Big Gay 5K & 1Mi. Pride Stride!" The 5K race will be held Saturday morning, March 21st, 2026 at 9:00 AM. The 1 Mile Pride Stride will begin at 9:45 AM.

The fundraiser is for Rome GA Pride. We are a nonprofit and any funds we raise go to help the local LGBTQIA+ community. The Big Gay 5K/1Mi. is an event raising funds for Pride (the festival is in June). We encourage people to show their Pride at the race!! We want it to be bright and fun, so people can show their true colors, show their pride, and be themselves in a safe space. All are welcome to participate and have fun!

Thanks to Sunshine Bakery for providing muffins to participants after the race!

Race Registration Fees:

*$30 -- 5K -- Pre-Registration Entry Fee / $40 Day of Race

*$25 -- 1 Mile -- Pre-Registration Entry Fee / $35 Day of Race

PLEASE NOTE: T-shirt size is Guaranteed if you REGISTER by WEDN., MARCH 11th. (While registration will still remain open until Sun., MARCH 15th, we simply cannot guarantee you get the shirt size you want beyond March 11th.) Register EARLY!!

Race Route / Start-Finish & Parking:

  • This USATF-Certified 5K Course is scenic and very fast, and meanders through the beautiful Oostanaula River Trails of Rome.

  • There is plenty of parking near the race's start/finish area at Ridge Ferry Park (Dog Park side, north of RR tracks).

    Friday, June 12th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, you may pick up your Race Packet/T-shirt under the pavilion at Rolater Park in Cave Spring, near the large 'Hearn Academic Bldg.' Packets will also be available on race morning, Saturday, but it sure takes some stress off to get it early!!

    5K COURSE:

    This USATF-certified course [GA24031WC] starts in front of Historic 1848 Fannin Hall and Georgia's largest outdoor swimming pool. It winds its way through town before turning by the Georgia School for the Deaf. It then returns to town and meanders through quaint neighborhoods before finishing in the middle of town square. The course is mostly flat with a few rolling hills but this tour of Cave Spring on foot will not be soon forgotten!
