Join us for the annual JBA 5K on April 25, 2026, at the Gilbert School. The event will run from 9:30 AM to 1 PM, beginning with registration and check-in, followed by opening remarks, the run beginning at 11 AM, and concluding with presentation of medals. We will come together to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention in loving memory of Joseph and Brian.

This event is dedicated to supporting a student at The Gilbert School pursuing a degree in the mental health field, specifically social work or psychology. Participants will have the ability to create their own fundraising page to help raise funds. Proceeds collected at this race will be given to a student in the form of a scholarship.

Fundraising kicks off on February 25, 2026 and continues until the day of the event. The day will feature a mapped course for the 3.2-mile walk/run, (1-mile route available) along with resources from local vendors dedicated to mental health and family support.

Together, we can make a difference in our community!

"The East Farms Spring Ahead 5K Fun Run/Walk (or 1-mile Run/Walk!) was started 11 years ago by an East Farms parent looking to help raise funds for the PTO. It has turned into the biggest fundraiser for the school every year! The PTO strives to to enrich the curriculum by organizing and funding various educational, cultural and social activities, and all funds raised go directly towards these efforts. We help fund field trips to lessen the financial burden on families, and we help to support school events like Night of Arts and Culture, YARC Day and various other educational and cultural assemblies. We also help to support families in need in our school community with support through the Wolf Fund.

But, the 5K is not only about raising money; it's an event that is focused on promoting health and wellness as well! Each year we are adding a little more to the event to provide different opportunities for families to get up, get moving and to have fun staying healthy together! Especially after being cooped up indoors all winter, it's a great way to get back outdoors and stretch those muscles!

We would like to thank a couple of our top sponsors this year; as always, Highland Park Market is a regular monetary sponsor of our event, as well as the provider of the after race snacks and bottled water! This year, we have a brand new Platinum Sponsor, Symmetric IT Group, for all of your cyber security and IT management needs! Based out of Tampa, they are a new family to the East Farms community, and we are very appreciative of their very generous sponsorship this year! If you have a business and are interested in sponsoring, please reach out to efpto@fpsct.org for more info!"

Registration starts at 1:30pm & Race starts at 2:30pm.

This is the first annual Iger Fund 5K: Hosted by The Be Kind Project which is being held in an effort to promote awareness around the connection of mental health and homelessness in Connecticut.

Both The Iger Fund and Be Kind Project were born from a shared realization that compassionate mental healthcare is critically underfunded and too often treated as an afterthought. Mental health care is unfortunately not a high-profit industry, which results in the people who need it most being frequently underserved and discharged without the support necessary to truly continue healing. As IOL staff, we believe this must change in an effort to promote a full journey to wellness.

The race will take place on the Institute of Living Campus. Registration will begin at 8:30am and the official race will start at 9:30 am. The fun run for children 10 and below will take place at 9:00 am. *children 10 and younger are free to attend

Water and snacks will be provided to participants, as well as awards for top participants.

Be Kind t-shirts will be for sale during the race; proceeds also go directly to the Iger Fund.

Fast Track Timing will assist with professional timing and scoring of the 5k.

Full proceeds from this 5k will go directly to the Iger Fund to assist in helping patients.
