RUNNER REWARDS

Run the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon and enjoy a high-quality finisher medal, a free performance running shirt, and a complimentary coffee or tea with a fresh pastry.

1K and 3K participants receive a classic cotton Run for L’Arche tee, a high-quality finisher medal, and a complimentary coffee or tea with a pastry.

Award ceremonies will take place after each event to recognize and reward the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in every distance.

RACE KIT PICK-UP

Race package pick-up will be available in person for all participants and volunteers beginning in April at Calgary Strides Running Store locations.

Please attend one of the following pick-up times to receive your race bib, event shirt, and available swag.

PLEASE NOTE: Race day pickups on race day are only available for out-of-town participants, unless prior arrangements have been made. If you require a race day pickup, please contact race organizers with sufficient notice. Pickup will begin at 8:00 AM at the event venue. Be sure to arrive with plenty of time to get your package before your respective event start.

For participants from out of town, race packages can also be mailed for an additional fee, subject to location and shipping costs. Please contact us for details.

TIMING

Each participant's race time (except 1k run participants) will be recorded and shared upon completion. We’re thrilled to partner with Startline Timing to ensure accurate timing and results.

NO-PENALTY DISTANCE ADJUSTMENTS

If you decide to change your race distance before event day, there will be no penalty. We’re happy to accommodate all participants to help ensure a fantastic experience for everyone!

DISCOUNTS

Family: Discounts are available for the 5K, 3K, and 1K events for families with children under 18. Eligible discounts will be applied during registration.

Community & Accessibility: We’re excited to offer a special rate for disability-support organizations that would like to join the Run for L'Arche. If your organization would like to register, please contact us and we’ll provide a discount code.

We’re also happy to explore additional discounts for individuals with disabilities who would like to participate. If you’re interested in being considered, please reach out to us at run@larchecalgary.org and we’ll connect with you.

ABOUT L’ARCHE CALGARY

L'Arche Calgary was founded in 1973. Over the last 50 years, we have grown to a community with five homes, a Supported Independent Living Program, and a Day Program. The L'Arche Calgary Community consists of Core Members (individuals with intellectual disabilities) who live and work alongside Assistants from all over the world to create a community of belonging. L’Arche Calgary is part of an international federation, with 156 communities in 38 countries worldwide, including 29 communities in Canada.

Celebrate the season with the Spring Spirit Fun Run! Join us for a fun, family-friendly 5K or 10K run or walk that welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, enjoying a casual jog, or strolling with family and friends, this event is all about movement, community, and having fun. Lots of great prizes! Top finishers and bib draws!

Best of all, every step makes a difference. Net proceeds from the Spring Spirit Fun Run will support a fund that helps young athletes in Calgary access track and field opportunities when cost would otherwise be a barrier.

Welcome to the Tails in the Wind Mile!

Join us on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for Calgary's only dog mile! Whether you are chasing a 1-mile PR or just looking for a fun morning stroll with your furry best friend, this net-downhill, wind-at-your-back course is designed to be the fastest fun on four legs.

The Divisions

We want everyone to enjoy the park safely, so we are offering separate divisions:

• The Dog Divisions: Run or walk the mile with your furry friend!

• The Human-Only Divisions: No dog? No problem! Chase your fastest mile unhindered.

(Note: We will utilize staggered wave starts beginning at 9:30 AM to ensure plenty of space on the path for everyone).

The Race

The course will start near Snowy Owl Picnic Area and end near Bluebird Picnic Area (point to point, downhill!).

• Course Accuracy: This 1-mile route has been accurately wheel-measured to ensure exact distance.

• Course Etiquette: Please stay on the right side of the pedestrian path, except to pass

• Shared Course: We do not have exclusive usage of the path. We will be sharing with the public and other races occurring simultaneously.

We will do our best to ensure the smoothest experience for our racers!

The Post-Race Pawty

The fun doesn't stop at the finish line! Stick around the Bluebird Picnic Area for post-race festivities, including:

• Finish line photos and a bubble machine!

• Post-race human snacks (fruit, granola bars)

• The ultimate Doggy Buffet (treats, peanut butter, and plenty of water)

Running for AARCS

This event is proudly partnered with the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS). A portion of every registration goes directly to helping animals in need. We highly encourage you to set up a fundraising page during registration and ask your friends and family to pledge your run! Our goal is to raise a minimum of 1000$!

Important Doggie Rules of the Road:

To ensure a safe and fun event for all species, please review the following rules:

• Keep it Short: All dogs must be on a standard leash (maximum 6 feet). No retractable leashes permitted.

• One-to-One: Maximum of one dog per registered human.

• Vaccinated & Friendly: All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and comfortable in crowded environments with other dogs and humans.

• Scoop the Poop: You are responsible for picking up after your pet! We will have extra bags and bins on the course.

Who are we?

Bumrun is a charity that raises awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.

For 15 years, we have organized 5K walk/run events and raised more than $1.8 million net for various colon cancer charity organizations.

Our funds go toward colon cancer research, enhancing patient support programs for families living with colon cancer, and raising awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention.

Canada has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world, affecting 1 in 16 Canadians. But 90% of deaths could be prevented with screening, so get ahead of your behind and join us this Bumrun!

What is Little Bums?

Little Bums is a live event run for children ages 12 and under. Little Bums is 500M and begins 20 minutes before the live event 5K.

Little Bums registration is $10.00, and you can register your child by clicking the REGISTER button on this page.

Registration includes:

• Finisher Medal

• Personalized fundraising page

• Post race snacks

Please note there is no race kit offered for Little Bums.

Is there a virtual 5K option?

Yes! You can register for the virtual Bumrun from anywhere in Canada here.

Please note that we are unable to transfer registration between events, so you will not be able to change from live to virtual or vice versa once you have signed up.

Registration includes:

• Race Completion Digital Certificate

• Personalized fundraising page

The virtual Bumrun does not include a race kit or a Finishers Medal.

How do teams work?

Teams are a fun way to fundraise with your family and friends! During registration, you can either create or join a team in the "Team" section of the registration page. If you have any difficulty, please click here for more info.

Please note that teams are specific to each city event, so you are unfortunately unable to join a team with registrants in the virtual, Toronto, Halifax, or Vancouver races.

Race package pick up: TBD

Race Day Times: Our team will be ready to receive you as of 8:00 AM.

Race start times are as follows:

8:40 AM for the Little Bums 500M run

9:00 AM for the 5K run/walk

We request walkers line up at the back and only fast runners (20 minutes or less) line up at the front, with the remainder of the runners falling in between. We will have volunteers helping out with this process.

Baggage Check: We will have baggage check for you to store your items during the race. Your bib will have a tear off bag tag for you to connect to your item, and your bib will be needed to retrieve your bags post-race. Please note that baggage check is open air.

First Aid: There will be a medic at the event site.

Awards: We will start presenting the overall awards for the 5K at 9:40 AM at the Awards Tent.

Results: Live results will be available here.

Post-Race: Post-race refreshments will be provided for all participants and volunteers. We look forward to seeing you on race day!

For nearly five decades, the Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run, Walk & Wheel has been one of Calgary’s largest family fundraising events supporting both Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and the Calgary Health Foundation.

Donate to the Calgary Health Foundation when submitting your race registration or set up your fundraising page in Race Roster to start raising funds. To fundraise for Jumpstart, set up your fundraising page and collect donations HERE.

Kids 5 & Under are FREE. Children participating in the 5 km and/or who will be walking at all on the 5 km course must still register and sign a waiver. The discount will be applied at checkout.
