  The Kiwanis Club of Sioux Falls presents its annual fundraiser with a new name and distance options: Lace Up for Kids 5k, 10 Mile, & Bake Sale to support kids and youth in our community.

  In an effort to keep costs down, and save you from another t-shirt you'll never wear, we will not be giving any swag away for this event. To offset that, we have kept registration costs low and hope to maximize how much money we can raise to help kids in Sioux Falls!

  Come get your steps in with this fun run/walk and follow it up with a bake sale or just stop out for some sweet treats without running!

  Race Details:

  • What: 5k, 10 mile, & free-will donation bake sale

  • When: Saturday, April 11th, 2026

  • 5k Race Start: 9 am

  • 10 mile Race Start: 8:45 am

  • Bake Sale: 8 am - 11 am

  • Where: Cherry Rock Park, Sioux Falls, SD 57103

  Details:

  • Packet pick-up Friday, April 10th, 4-6 p.m. at Central Bank (4900 S Western Ave) and race morning.

  • The course is a flat and fast out-and-back along the bike path beginning and ending at Cherry Rock Park.

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded for men and women in both races.

  About Kiwanis:

  Kiwanis is a community of members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children in Sioux Falls. Each child has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance.

  Welcome to our 11th Annual Remember the Fallen 5K run/walk! We are excited to provide in person and virtual race options. The event is hosted by the South Dakota Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1. This event is a way to remember those Law Enforcement Officers who have lost their lives serving their communities, as well to say thank you for those who continue to protect our communities every day!

  This year's event will come at the end of National Police Week. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

  • Bag Drop - available at Family Park start line - only the provided clear snap bag may be used for bag drop.

  Von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL) is a rare genetic disorder that significantly increases the chance that you’ll have certain kinds of cancerous (malignant) tumors and noncancerous (benign) tumors and cysts. The cause of VHL is a mutation to the VHL gene. Everyone has a VHL gene and its job is to put the brakes on tumor growth in the human body. If you have VHL, your VHL gene lacks that component and at times will excel tumor growth throughout the body. Historically, the average life expectancy for an individual with VHL was around 40 to 52 years, but advancements in early diagnosis and treatment in the last 20 years have increased it to 67 years for males and 60 years for females. We want to be part of raising that number.

  We are grateful for what God-through technology & science, has done; but our race doesn't stop there! We want to run the race and fight hard until a cure is found! From this desire-the "Good Race" non-profit was born. It started with a man living with VHL (and dominating it), siblings (and their spouses) who are his biggest fans and admirers, and a friend (who happens to be a run coach) with a heart of Gold and a passion for making a difference. Together our team is working to bring to light what VHL is and to make sure no one will ever fight alone. Alongside of you, we will raise money and awareness so those with this disease may live a life without limits. Our aim: to bring Glory to God and to open eyes to what God can do even through our toughest obstacles. We are excited to have you be a part of that!
