    It's On!

Welcome to the first annual Freedom Ultra Festival. It all takes place on Labor Day weekend 2026 on the beautiful private Kearin Family Farm with portions of the course on an adjacent trail system. This is every event you could ever want, all jammed into one long weekend. We have a short, fast, and flat course that allows you to always be close to your gear with just one big central aid station. This is the perfect race to do self-supported. If you bring a crew or family/friends, they will be very comfortable and will not need to rush around from aid station to aid station. Regardless of what event you choose, you will run laps on our 3.2 mile course until either you finish or you break! This course allows you to push your limits past where you thought they were by being short enough to always be able to "go one more lap". There is free camping available starting the day before the event all the way through the end of the event and a great low key atmosphere where you are surrounded by people pushing their limits. The 200 miler starts Friday morning and all other races start Saturday morning.Sign up for something that scares you, show up and find out what you are made of!Around 25% of this course is a mix of gravel, packed dirt and grass while the other 75% is a paved trail system.

    Countdown

    Intro

Backyard is a new running sport. It is neither running a set distance for time, nor running a set time for distance. The objective of Backyard is for the athlete to cover the maximum distance possible for their level of experience and ability. There is only one winner in a Backyard Ultra, the runner who covers the greatest distance. However there can be many successes, as the rational pacing and team atmosphere of a Backyard raises many runners to achievements they never thought possible. Every athlete in the race plays a part in the final outcome. The ultimate winner cannot reach the distance they achieve without the contributions of all the other participants.

    Black Barn Badassery

At the top of every hour including the 1st hour, we place a $100 bill in a clear container for all runners to see. This continues to happen every hour as a new yard begins. The last runner to complete a yard and the 2nd to last runner (the 1st loser) will split the prize money with each other that has accumulated in the jar. The winner will get 75% of the prize and the runner who went the second longest will get 25% of the prize money. This can get VERY large. A 100 mile finish would have a prize of $2,400. A 200 mile prize would be $4,800 and so on with no limit.Every Runner who hits 24 laps (100 miles) will get a custom engraved belt buckle. All runners will get:-A bad ass DNF Medal (except winner who gets a special one), custom engraved with how many laps/miles they completed.-T-shirt (if you registered after September 1st, shirts will be limited to qty and size remaining)-Sticker Kit-Cowbell-Other Badassery that we come up with on a whim

    FAQ

Q: What time does the Race Start?A: Registration begins casually the night before and resumes at 6:00am on Saturday. The first 5K begins at 8:00am sharp and they will continue hourly until 8:00am on Sunday.----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: What if I can't make it to the 1st 5k? Can I join on a later one?A: Yes, but you will have to be patient. The race director plans to run all of the 5k's so you may have to wait to get your bib etc until he returns before the next 5k.----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: I am coming in from out of town. Can I camp the night before?A: Yes! You are welcome to come setup your spot the day before anytime after 3pm----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: Can I bring my dog or other pet with me?A: No. Unfortunately my insurance does not allow animals to be brought to this event. (Seriously...please don't bring them. I don't want to be the guy that has to tell you to leave, because that's lame)----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: Do I have to run them all to stay in it, or can I skip some here and there?A: You can run as few or as many as you wish. You can skip any number of them in-between as well.----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: What do I get for my $175?A: We will have plenty of porta potties, water, electrolytes, lots of food and snacks that will be available for free (please don't count on us for all your food for 24hours though), Each runner who signs up early enough will get a Race T-Shirt, every runner will get a custom wood plank that will be burned/branded on the spot with the number of 5k's you or your team completed, camping, games, music and a guaranteed good time!----------------------------------------------------------------------------Q: I want to sign up at the very last minute, but I still want a shirt. Will I get one?A: We have to purchase the shirts 2 weeks in advance so we are guessing on the number of participants. We will be overshooting the number we expect to show up, but you will be at the mercy of sizes and qty left on hand.

    Cool Stuff

There will be camping, lots of food and snacks and plenty of Swag. You will get a custom finisher award engraved with the number of laps you or your team completed.
