    The River Run will take place Saturday September 9/27/2025 10:00 am in picturesque Simsbury, Connecticut. Featuring USATF certified 5k and 10k road races as well as 1 mile & 1/2 mile kid's races. This is a very flat course (PR flat) along smooth roads that border parks, Farmington River, bucolic farms, & lovely residential homes.

    ENTRY FEES

    5K Entry Fees: Up until 8/28 = $30; 8/29-9/20=$35; Race Day = $40

    10K Entry Fees: Up until 8/28 = $35; 8/29-9/20 = $40; Race Day = $45

    Kids Race: Free

    All Registration Fees are Non-Refundable! Race Day registration opens at 8:30

    T-SHIRTS

    A free performance shirt is included with your 5k or 10k pre-registration. (Subject to availability)

    EARLY PACKET PICKUP

    Pick up your bib & T-shirt on Friday 9/26 from 3:00-6:00 at the Ticket Depot adjacent to the Iron Horse Playground.

    PARKING

    Park in the commuter lots along the west side of Iron Horse Boulevard between Drake Hill Road and Phelps Lane. This will be a short walk to the race start & finish lines. Note: the exits for the parking lot behind the amphitheater will be blocked during the race until around 11:45.

    AGE DIVISIONS FOR AWARDS (MALE & FEMALE)

    14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+

    Custom pint glass will be awarded to the Overall Winners in the 5k & 10k and the Top 3 in each age division at the Awards Tent post race.

    If you get your Personal Record (PR) or it's your 1st time running the distance, please come Ring the Rotary Bell at the Post Race Party!

    NICE DOGS, STROLLERS & PUSHERS

    Are permitted, but please line up towards the rear of the field prior to race start.

    TIMING

    Gun time with chips on race bibs for finish time. All runners will receive their time and place. Final times posted on EmpireTiming.com/2024. Note: Elite runners should line up at the front.

    KIDS 1 MILE

    We are pleased to once again partner with the Farmington Valley YMCA to provide a fun-filled day for the entire family. This race is for kids up to 12 years old (mostly K-4th grades.) Parents are welcome to join in the fun!

    Begins at 11:15 (after the 5k & 10k). All finishers will receive a Bib, T-Shirt & Certificate of Completion. All Parents will need to register their child and sign a waiver prior to start, so DON"T be that parent that shows up 30 seconds prior to race start.

    POST RACE PARTY

    Food provided by Harvest Cafe & Bakery and Jersey Mikes Subs. Beer (Bring ID). Music.

    Summary

    Honoring Kevin Hutt, one of the founders of the Traprock Trail Race, for his contributions to the trail running community. Kevin passed away unexpectedly in 2025, but his legacy lives on! The Kevin Hutt 10K is a rolling loop course featuring mostly technical single track on the Metacomet Trail, as well as the Orange and Yellow trails in Penwood State Park. The course is rocky but runnable! There is a 3-hour cutoff.Please Note:• No aid stations on course• Runners must carry enough hydration for 6.2 miles• We’ll have snacks at the finish!

    Proceeds will go in part to NAMI - National Association of Mental Illness

    Once the race is at capacity, the waitlist will automatically start. Runners selected from the waitlist will get an email that they have been selected, and will have TWO days to respond before we move to the next name and cancel that invitation.     The Kevin Hutt 10k is put on through the CT Trailmixers. The CT Trailmixers are a trail running club based in central Connecticut. Our members are passionate about sharing Connecticut’s many wonderful trails with friends and visitors. For more information on the CT Trailmixers, visit www.cttrailmixers.com. We are a non-profit, and all 100% volunteers - all club proceeds are reinvested in a variety of charitable causes.

    If you cancel before 9/20, we will refund 50% of your registration fees. No refunds after. No bib transfers. No deferrals.
