Established in 1973, The Governor's Cup is one of the most prestigious and longest-running road races in the Southeast. Hosted in the historic city of Columbia, SC, the weekend includes The Main Street Mile, The Kids' Main Street Mile, Governor's Cup 5K and (the main event) The Governor's Cup Half Marathon. The city boasts mild April temperatures, rolling hills and tree-covered streets that all lead to fast race times. The races are organized "by runners, for runners" and participants get the elite treatment as they smash their race goals. Great food, drink, entertainment, culture and southern hospitality are all served in generous portions at The Governor's Cup.

Do you like to run? Do you like to drink beer? If you answered yes to either question, then you are going to love this!

The 2nd annual Beer mile presented by the Lumberyard in Clinton, SC will be the most fun you've ever had running a mile. Gather your friends to form a squad for the relay option or if you are bold enough, try the solo challenge. Whichever you choose will surely be a blast!

Solo Challenge: The route is simple it's a quarter mile loop beginning and ending at the Lumberyard. The only catch is you must drink a beer before you begin your loop. 4 Beers, 4 Loops, that equals a beer mile. These rules apply to the solo challenge, the team relay on the other hand don't get off so easy.

Team Relay: Same route different rules. The teams will consist of 4 runners. Each runner must drink a beer run a loop, drink another beer before the next runner can begin their beer, loop, beer. So, simply stated for the relay teams each runner will run 1/4 mile and drink 2 beers. Sounds like a good time to me.

The best part about this race is you can either be the faster runner or the faster chugger, both skills are needed to have the edge! If you are neither, sign up for the T-shirt and beer and enjoy the laughs!

Be sure to register before April 5th to guarantee your legendary, one-of-a-kind Lumberyard Beer Mile T-Shirt!

    MUST BE 21 TO ENTER!!!!!!!

PLEASE PLAN FOR A DESIGNATED DRIVER OR SAFE RIDE HOME!!!! We want to make this event fun and safe, so don't be the one who ruins it for everyone else!

    SWIM: 750 Meters (Lake)

    BIKE: 16 Miles

    RUN: 5 Kilometers

The Lake Murray Triathlon has become a favorite chance for all South Carolina Triathletes to showcase their talents against the best in the state. Nestled in the center of South Carolina athletes from the Upstate, Midlands and Coastal regions converge into Columbia each year for this sprint distance event.

The swim is one clockwise 750 meter loop. Wetsuits will be legal with expected water temperatures in the low 70's. Depending on the wind swimmers may encounter light to moderate chop with a small current.

The bike course is long for a sprint distance event - one 16 mile loop. Road surfaces are good with a few rough areas scattered through the course. This is to be expected as the course winds along completely rural roads. Only 5 turns on this course and they are marked with pavement arrows and directional signs. Police and volunteers man the proper intersections.

The 5k run course is very unique in that runners get several opportunities to see where they are in relation to the competition. A one loop course with several out and back spurs gives athletes a chance to see where they are on the course. Relatively flat and shaded, this run course can be very fast!
