Yes, July is hot! And that is why we do an early start, anytime between 6am and 8am, Sunday July 12. Three routes (31, 50 and 66 miles) are on lightly traveled paved roads through the countryside, rolling hills, farmland, pastures and wooded hillsides. FREE Family ride: Get your kiddos out for a fun ride with other families. We’ll do a 3-mile roundtrip ride from Broken Arrow to the Baker Wetlands Nature Center on the paved Lawrence Loop Trail, accompanied by experienced ride leaders. Treats, including Pirates Booty, at the end of the ride. No preregistration required. Check-in at 8:00 am and roll out at 8:30 am.

RIDERS and VOLUNTEERS must check in and get a wristband. Early Packet Pickup on Saturday, July 11, from 2-6pm, at Trek Bicycle Lawrence, 2525 Iowa St. Day-of Packet Pickup at the Broken Arrow Shelter beginning at 5:30 am.
Start and finish at the Broken Arrow Park Shelter House (2800 Louisiana St, Lawrence, KS). Start anytime between 6am and 8am. Course closes at 2:00 pm.
Cool down after the ride with ice-cold cooling towels, gelato, sorbetto, melons and soft drinks.
FREE Family Ride begins at 8:30 am. Check-in at 8:00 am
Lizard Under the Skillet Routes will be published about a week before the ride.

The 11th Annual Rexy Run/Walk is back on August 15th, 2026!
We will be offering our 5K and NEW 10K course.
The Rexy Run/Walk begins and ends at Broken Arrow Park, a picturesque city park, in
southeast Lawrence and will wind through the Baker Wetlands on a combination of paved concrete trails and fine gravel trails. The Rexy Run is stroller and dog friendly.
The Rexy Run is hosted by BabyJay's Legacy of Hope, a 501C based out of Lawrence that helps families with children who are fighting cancer. We help offset the extra expenses families have that are not covered by health insurance.

Moonrise Bike Ride is Ottawa Bike and Trail's premier bikepacking, music, and food festival on the Flint Hills Trail State Park.
Moonrise Main Event
Experience an unforgettable bikepacking adventure
on the Flint Hills Trail State Park! Ride from Ottawa to Pomona Lake State Park, where you'll enjoy a chuckwagon dinner, a relaxing evening of live bluegrass music, and a moonlit ride before settling in to sleep under the stars. Most importantly, you'll connect with fellow riders and create lasting memories.
Moonrise Campfire (Optional 2nd Night)
Want to extend the adventure? The 2-night Campfire Option starts Friday afternoon with a social gathering at Riverbank Brewing in Council Grove. From there, you'll ride 20 miles along the Flint Hills Trail to Basecamp in Allen, Kansas, where you'll set up camp, enjoy a delicious meal, and gather around the campfire for live music.
On Saturday morning, after a hearty breakfast, you’ll continue on a 32-mile ride to Pomona Lake State Park for the Main Event festivities. On Sunday, the journey continues with a ride along the Flint Hills Trail, finishing in Ottawa.
Point-to-Point Rider Support
For riders starting at Base Camp Flint Hills (1-night) or opting for the Campfire Option (2-night), this will be a point-to-point ride—starting in Council Grove and finishing in Ottawa. This format allows for better rider support and offers the unique opportunity to experience nearly 72 miles of the Flint Hills Trail. Riders must arrange their own transportation or take advantage of our shuttle service. This does not affect the 1-night Main Event riders, who will start and finish in Ottawa.
Rider Shuttle Transportation
To accommodate point-to-point riders, we are offering two shuttle options:
A Friday shuttle to transport riders from Ottawa to the starting point in Council Grove.
A Sunday return shuttle for riders needing transportation back to Base Camp Flint Hills or Council Grove.
This service provides flexibility—allowing riders to park at either the start or finish while we handle bike and rider transport. Spots are limited, so register early to secure a shuttle option when signing up for either the 1-night Main Event (Council Grove Start) or the 2-night Campfire Option.
