The FDNY Foundation is proud to partner with SL Green Realty Corp. for the 4th Annual FDNY Foundation Climb to SUMMIT at One Vanderbilt in New York City on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Climbers will race up 1,100 feet in the sky to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt to highlight the importance of physical fitness for the brave FDNY firefighters, EMTs and paramedics who are always ready to respond at a moment’s notice. Funds raised will support training and fitness equipment for FDNY members.

In the last few years, firefighters had to run up 21 flights of stairs donning full bunker gear weighing upwards of 60 lbs in 70+ degree weather to rescue families trapped in a fire in a high-rise building as the elevators were inoperable. After such a strenuous climb, they then executed a lifesaving roof rope rescue on the outside of the building to save the occupants. Timing, training and physical fitness all played an integral part of the success of this life-saving incident.

One Vanderbilt anchors the modernization of Manhattan and shines like a beacon to the world with its iconic shape, setting a new standard for architecture in New York. Measuring 1,401 feet tall, One Vanderbilt is the tallest commercial skyscraper in midtown Manhattan and among the top 30 tallest buildings in the world. This momentous climb ends at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt located in the crown of the building. SUMMIT is New York’s newest and most immersive observatory experience offering a masterful blend of multisensorial art, technology, and thills amongst 360-views of the skyline.

    [runningcrews.com] [runningcrews.com] - Instagram

Founded in January 2018 by Ryo, Dao-Yi, and Eugene, Old Man Run Club in New York City began as a lighthearted joke about feeling old while running but quickly blossomed into a welcoming community of around 50 members. Emphasizing long-distance runs every Saturday—ranging from 9 to 22 miles at a conversational pace—the club fosters inclusivity across all paces, ages, and genders, with more female than male runners. Meeting at Urban Studios, members share camaraderie that extends beyond running, exploring iconic city routes along the Hudson River, Central Park, and landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge. Rooted in the spirit of the NYC Marathon, the club provides a supportive environment for building endurance and confidence while celebrating the vibrant energy and diverse neighborhoods of New York. The NYC Bridge Runners are among the first and most influential urban running crews. Based in New York City, they reflect the city's energy and diversity. Their motto, "We don’t take it too serious, but we’re serious runners," sums up their approach: they focus on exploring the city together and pushing themselves, not on tracking stats. For them, the real measure of a run is the neighborhoods they see and the stories they find along the way.

    [runningcrews.com] [runningcrews.com] - Facebook - Instagram

WEPA is an inspiring and motivating running movement that was founded in New York City in the summer of 2016. Their name is a powerful double entendre: it is an acronym for their core values—Work-Excel-Persevere-Achieve—and "¡Wepa!" is a popular Hispanic cultural exclamation of joy and excitement. The crew was created to inspire those intimidated by running and to help people run their very first mile. They have since cultivated a supportive "family atmosphere" where members hold each other accountable and celebrate every milestone along the way.
