1k 2k 5k Open Water Swim Track

Take on the challenge. Push your limits. Experience the raw beauty of Tasmania’s east coast at the Devil of a Swim in Bicheno.

Dive into the crystal-clear waters and choose your distance — 1km, 2km or the ultimate 5km endurance swim — in one of the most spectacular ocean settings in the state. With turquoise water, dramatic coastline and the iconic Diamond Island as your backdrop, this is more than a swim. It’s an experience.

The 5km endurance event follows a clockwise course from Waubs Beach, tracking the coastline before heading around Diamond Island. Swimmers will move along a shallower line beside Redbill Beach to the 2km sandbar checkpoint. The cut-off time for this checkpoint is 1 hour. At this point, swimmers will be assessed to ensure they are capable of safely continuing around Diamond Island. After completing the island circuit, competitors will turn at the buoy on the island side of the sandbar and make the final push straight back to the finish line at Waubs Beach.

The 2km and 1km events follow a clearly marked buoy course just offshore from Waubs Beach — the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself in open water while soaking up the stunning coastal atmosphere.

The Kids Swim takes place along the shoreline of Waubs Beach, creating a safe, supportive and exciting environment for young swimmers to be part of the action.

Participants in the 5km, 2km and 1km events must be 12 years of age or older. There is no minimum age requirement for the Kids Swim.
