5k Run Virtual Walk

Come join us for the ALS Crusaders 5k!!!

As part of our Foróige Leadership Program service project, we are organizing a 5K charity run on Sunday, March 8th, at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY. This event will benefit the Live Like Lou ALS Foundation.

Through both personal experience and observation, we have seen the devastating effects that ALS has on patients and their families. We chose to support the Live Like Lou ALS Foundation because of its commitment to advancing ALS research while also providing direct support to those currently living with the disease.

The foundation was created to honor the legacy of Lou Gehrig, the iconic New York Yankees first baseman whose career and life were cut short by ALS. Known as the “Iron Horse,” Gehrig played 2,130 consecutive games and became a symbol of strength, perseverance, and humility. His 1939 farewell speech, delivered after his ALS diagnosis, helped bring national awareness to the disease that would later bear his name.

Today, the Live Like Lou ALS Foundation carries forward Gehrig’s legacy by funding innovative research, raising awareness, and improving quality of life for ALS patients and their families. The foundation’s work reflects Lou Gehrig’s courage and determination, ensuring that those affected by ALS receive both hope for the future and support in the present.

We, the ALS Crusaders, hope you will join us on March 8th—whether you run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines—to help make a meaningful difference. 100% of the proceeds from this race will be donated directly to the Live Like Lou ALS Foundation, with all donations going toward research, patient support, and awareness in the fight against ALS.

Together, we can honor Lou Gehrig’s legacy and help move closer to a world without ALS.
